The weather in Ecuador is mild only if you’re inland and nowhere near a beach. If you’re near the beach it’s hot AF and humid and the beaches aren’t nice anyway. Not the right spot for OP. |
in 6 months?
|
Touristy AF and not nearly as nice as it used to be. |
Tons of American expats is a drawback. Not a plus. Most are weirdos. |
|
Zapallar, a couple hours from Santiago.
Otherwise, Punta de Mita, Mexico. |
+1. What an odd post. OP is looking for an experience in a foreign country, and this poster suggests Manuel Antonio because it’s full of gringos and accepts US dollars? What? |
it's not so politically stable anymore, I think. But I'm with you -- I love Ecuador, particularly Otavalo. It's my ideal climate, and it's so gorgeous. Not the beach and warm weather the OP is looking for though, I suppose, but MY type of paradise. |
| Is there area around Puerto Escondido in Mexico safe anymore? I enjoyed a few months there, but it was about a decade ago. Lovely food, lovely people, hot, sunny, beach...seems like it might hit the right points, if it's still relatively safe. |

You could do San Juan del Sur easily, not sure what BA is but what in the hell would they do in Miraflores for that long? Not even sure there is good internet there. I lived in Nicaragua for over 3 years. I couldn't stay in Miraflores that long. Maybe try Ometepe if you want Nicaragua. Leon is also a great city. |
DP here. I'm sure BA is Buenos Aires, which really is a great city. Miraflores/Lima? No. Lima is the pits. I've spent a lot of time in San Juan del Sur and I really like it, but it's not for everyone. For one thing, it's very, very poor and the expats are nuts. |

Punta del Este Uruguay
My DH’s favorite place on the entire planet. Go and make him so jealous! |
Really? How odd. I've been, and it's nice enough, but it's definitely not all that. |
Haha oh well that makes more sense. I was thinking miraflore in Nicaragua. Which is super remote and off the beaten track! |
