Rory as a boy's name?

I’ve heard it most often as a boy’s name. I find it kind of sissy-sounding, TBH, like Julian or Francis.

OP here- Not sure why but this totally helps... maybe ill go with it!

It competes for my least favorite name ever. I just think the sound and the spelling are completely unattractive. I'm usually a "don't care what ppl choose" person on the name front, but there's something about Rory that makes me cringe.

I know a female Rory and people assume 100% of the time on hearing her name that she's male, so I think male Rory is fine.

But I agree with other posters that it can be a pronunciation nightmare. I had great difficulty making my R-full name understood when I was little and still struggle to get my Rs out in some phonetic contexts.

Go with something simple for a middle name. And no more Rs

Rory James

Rory Finn

Rory Michael

Rory John

Well it would make a terrible female name.

You missed the boat on this one.

Rory. Very Irish. I lived abroad with a huge number of Irish students and there were at least 5-6 Rory's in the group.

I personally really like the name. Don't think it's difficult at all - particularly for Americans.

James is everybody's middle name lately, but it really works.

Rory is so hard to say

And if ROry has a younger sibling -- or even friends under the age of 5 himself- the little kid accent would be either adordable or... indistinguishable from Worry, wewe, etc.
