Just as a temporary solution, find 2-3 high school babysitters to get you through the next few weeks while you find a more permanent solution.
Unless they do sports, high school activities and homework haven't really gotten going yet and some may take a temporary job. You might even find someone willing to do this for longer. |

au pair for K-5.
tho they started walking to school/home with friends in 2rd grade. |
| Extended day / aftercare |
| I am so curious about how this is something you are asking on August 22.. |
| Are you sure that that aftercare ends at five? That doesn’t track with any of the aftercare that I’ve ever seen. |
You keep saying after school pickup, but if 5 is too early for you, this isn't just about picking up... you need like 3 hours a day at least. |
Yes OP. People might be able to offer you better suggestions if you are more specific with what you need. Do you literally just need someone to get your kids and bring them to your house--and then they leave? How far is your house from their school--would it require driving or is it walkable? If it requires driving, would you need this person to use their own car, or can they use yours? What time is this pick up? Is it a small school with a short/non stressful line? Or is it total chaos and the pick up person will be waiting with other cars for 1/2 hour? |
| Op I'm sorry but the PPs are correct- you aren't going to find anyone reliable. Maybe if you re paying like $50hr if you just need that one hour. |
And good luck finding that person at $50 per day. |
I mean for the right price you will definitely find someone. For $100 a day I’d do it. |
Because you can’t hire for a job that’s going to start in two months. That person will get another job. |
But the OP didn’t say she wanted to hire someone. She asked a general question. It is surprising that she just now is thinking about this. |
I am the OP and I was thinking about it before. I just had no idea it would be this hard. And I didn’t think it made sense to try to hire someone in July for something that starts in September. |
My nanny is leaving us in February and I'm already starting to look. |
