Life 360 in College

I’ve never heard anything good about life 360

Here is something good about Life 360: Someone stole my kid's pack, complete with phone and car keys, and we could see where it was and DH went and confronted the guy and got her stuff back.

I'm a PP whose college DD still has it on her phone. Having it on her phone does NOT = stalking/tracking. I never look at it; it's there for emergencies. I DON'T WANT to know if my DD is in her bed or someone else's, or doesn't get home until 3am. It's great for picking her up at the airport; I can see where she is as I'm driving so I can pull over in front of her (this is LAX)

Ok but Find My Friends does the same thing. The exact same thing.

WTH is Find My Friends? I hate iPhones and don't have one.

How do you find lost phones?

"So creepy! His mom wants to know when he is hooking up with girls? Not normal at all."

Can someone please explain how I could use this technology to know when my kid is hooking up with girls? I only know how to find him when he's hooking up with guys.

How? Bc if I happen to be staring at my phone and notice that my kid is not in a dorm I would…..call the police in a different state and tell them that? That’s just searching for reasons to make anxiety seem normal.

No, but if parents haven't heard from their kid in an amount of time that would be considered alarming in that family, it's a way to see where the child might be.

That is correct. Also, you don't have to open the Life 360 app just because it's on your phone, and you don't have to set location notifications. How is Find My Friends any less creepy than that?

Should I also cancel the Israeli security team I have following her?

Consider yourself lucky. My teen has a pretty serious mental illness. I just stopped using a tracking app on him. If he wasn’t dick, it would’ve never occurred to me to use it.

We share our google location at times when traveling. Otherwise no...no tracking.

We get an alert when she gets home. We don’t track to see where she is and don’t plan to unless she goes unheard from after a few days.

She uses it to see when we are getting close so she can meet us at her door.

Her and her friend groups all use it.

We are not interested in the features that come with the paid version.

If I wanted to track her location I would put air tags in her car and backpack, but I don’t.

There is zero wrong with it if it works for your family. I could care less what anyone else on a free anonymous message board may think.

Air tags don’t track.

We’ve never lost one.

DH will occasionally look at son's location on SnapChat if he was supposed to let us know he got somewhere safely (ex. DS drove to Quebec alone for summer study abroad and we wanted to make sure he made it across the border).

I wonder how many parents of missing kids are regretting not using Life 360 (or something similar).
