If your chid was wearing masks indoors at school at the end of last year...

Yes 2 middle schools kiddos . Their choice but we have a lot to worry about with Covid in our day to day lives so this is one less thing to always stress about.

I work in the front office of a local independent school that is k-12 and we had about 10-12 parents call a day to have us check in on their kid and their mask wearing compliance (after we went mask optional but the parent wanted the kid masked). Some went as far as to ask us to snap pictures of their 8th graders during the day so they knew they wore it.

Please don’t do that parents. It was not a good look.

Yikes!

I could work with this. But how can you know when community spread is high when most tests are now done at home and not reported? The CDC doesn’t have accurate information anymore.

At my child’s private, the school will only notify parents in MS or HS if 25% of the grade has Covid. So we will be masking.

We gave our high school kids the facts as we know them, the school policy, and the choice. None of us has had it yet, and we go out, we travel, etc. I don't mind if they choose not to wear it, and I won't stop them if they want to until it begins to seem that they are acting from a place of unreasonable anxiety (and we are far from that point). They are completely chill about the whole thing. They will follow policies any time one is required, of course, and they will also respect other families' rules if they are with someone else. Manners and all.

I think using hospitalization rates as a metric makes sense. Those currently show community spread as high.

No, our two will not be masking. We traveled and did lots of socializing this summer without masks. The kids asked not to mask fall and I can’t blame them.

Yes, of course. Middle and elem.

Yes. But I suspect most of the kids will not be masked. I have accepted that.

no...my kids are done with masks. They will only wear one if they contract COVID and are asymptomatic when they are allowed to return to school
