Four Questions to Ask During Next Year's School Board Election

Frisch has been a total disaster. So have Tholen and others. Throw them out.

1&2: FCPS is not a club for parents, students, and teachers. We live in a community where all can participate.
3: Absolutely valid.
4: no politician will ever admit to this. People running for president "are focused on their current jobs right now". We all know the drill. Grow up.

They are perfectly valid. Your assertion that they are not should be an automatic disqualification from voting.

Ds in Fairfax were long associated with moderation and good governance. The current Ds on the School Board have tarnished the brand because they stand only for woke ideology and mismanagement. So many will be voted off if they run again.

I wouldn’t be so sure. Who are the challengers? If they start throwing around “woke ideology”, they’ll lose me.

Being woke is a very good thing.

I'm the OP and nope, you're absolutely wrong. I think it's very important that the school board be full of people that have or have had children in the school system and not political hacks. The OpenFCPS folks were the political hacks, remember?

Also, PLEASE stop bringing this bullshit up in every single thread. We have been free of this stupid conversation for several months now and you don't need to be bringing it up again. Please just stop. Keep it civilized. I can't bear to read the rest of the post because you've just started a completely irrelevant, politicized argument. Thanks a lot dickwad.

True. But some stakeholders are more vested in others and it raises questions. If they are not an employee, student, or family member WHY are they so interested in being around someone else's child? There are bad actors out there and we want to keep kids safe.

Whoa. Seriously?

OP here, that was NOT me. I just think that someone running for school board should actually have an interest in what the school system does and not use the school board as a stepping stone for their political career. Providence is a classic example of this. Dalia didn't care about the kids, she just wanted to step up. Karl Frisch doesn't care about kids, he's a political hack. I want someone who wants to join the school board because they care about the school system and about educating children. Is that too much to ask????

ALSO - I think it's really sad that people are now equating something like the bolded with republicans. I am a die hard liberal democrat but hell yeah I care about what my kids are learning and you should too!

Not if it’s 99% about what you say and 1% what you do. This crowd is a bunch of useless phonies.

Well, that is your opinion. Every tax payer contributes to schools, so they have a right to run. If someone had good ideas, seemed honest and trustworthy, but didn’t have kids - I’d still consider them a viable candidate.

What the F____? NO I am absolutely not one of these people. I am just really fed up with the bullshit that is Karl Frisch who is only using this job as a stepping stone into a larger political career and doesn't give one single shit about children or improving the school system. I want to avoid losers like him in the future.

That’s the dead these days. You’re an istaphobe for any criticism of someone who falls into the right demographic.
