Fall options for new players

VLC is forming a 2032 team with hands down the best coach in the area. If your son is in that age group that is worth a look.

Any insight into the VLC 2031 team?

VLC has two at the 2031 age group. One of the teams did really well in HoCo (AA) and at Hershey. The second team seems to be newer and still developing. VLC is a great option for Nova families.

He's already committed to a different travel sport which he has played for 4 years. We are not looking to add an additional travel level commitment for him/our family at this time (nor would it be appropriate for a new player).

We're looking for a rec/house style program where he can learn and develop, and if he takes to it we could consider ramping up then. We do assume that lacrosse will replace his current spring sport.

When my kid was that age, he did the scoopers/rippers program with MadLax (totally separate from being on a team). It was a once a week clinic in the fall or winter, I can't remember which. Perfect way to get some experience without it being overwhelming.

Does anyone have similar recommendations for NW DC / Montgomery Country. We did MadLax in the Spring and loved it, but it won't work with our schedules in the Fall.

Where does VLC play/practice?

In the past it has been spread between Tyson's, Fairfax, and Loudoun and the players are also mixed but in all of those areas. Good mix of both public and private school players

Have you checked your local rec organization? Va Metro is the best entry level club in that area if she has some experience

I see Va Metro is highly competitive. My daughter has no experience and would like to learn lacrosse. So what would be the best option for her around Fairfax?

Next Level has rec programs and clinics for that age group and they usually play at fields that should be relatively easy to get to if you're in NW DC or MoCo.
