Calling all romantics: Best show/ movie moments

I wonder if the people who are drawn to post on a romance thread and the people who are fans of the silly comedy-mystery "Psych" intersect at all. I find it can be one of the most romantic shows ever, but then, I love the characters and watching crazy people fall into devoted love is somehow doubly romantic.

Best romantic moment is a wordless one: A handwritten note, pressed up against the glass that separates a very strait-laced and uptight cop from the genuinely guilty woman he's just arrested, whom he's visiting in jail. They've spent a total of maybe two hours together, counting the arrest. His note says:

"I will wait for you these six to eighteen months. See you next Wednesday."

It's not some outsized declaration of love or hot moment of passion or huge gesture, but it's a perfectly in-character moment of complete, irreversible dedication.

Yes!

Anytime Colin Firth kisses anyone. He puts his soul in it.

Matthew Perry watching Salma Heyak dance in Fools Rush In

It's a stupid movie, he creeps me out IRL, and I don't love the Feisty Latina Who Teaches WASP to Love narrative, but it's a nice scene

That sounds sweet! I have to watch that show. I would recommend to you “The Mentalist.” The love story in the final two seasons is well worth waiting for.

Yes. OMG the wedding scene. All of it.

The scene in Chasing Amy where Ben Afflecks character tells her he’s in love with her. She throws a fit and storms out of the car. He gets out too and she runs back to him and they kiss. Classic.

I miss indie film Ben Affleck

PP to whom you're responding. "Psych" name-drops and makes fun of "The Mentalist" quite a few times in later seasons! The concepts were similar, one a comedic take and the other more serious, but since "Psych" was around first (started its run two years earlier), the show enjoyed poking at "The Mentalist." I've never seen the latter, mostly because I figure I would have a hard time taking it seriously after watching "Psych" mock it (affectionately), but I'll absolutely give it a try. Thanks! (Plus, that Patrick Jane guy is most watchable, I do believe.)

Simon Baker plays an American in Mentalist, right? I seem to recall being wildly disappointed he wasn’t using his native Australia English. Similar to anything Tom Ellis is in (he’s Welsh).

This is Jamie and Claire from Outlander. Not many couples encounter the hardships that Claire and Jamie do in the series. They've both been attacked, beaten, imprisoned, and separated for large expanses of time and distance. These characters have unconditional love and respect for each other. They trust each other and would literally die if it meant saving the life of the other. They are soulmates like no other and this is the reason many people have posted different Outlander scenes.

Well that quote didn’t copy correctly. It’s the “complete dedication” part of the post that I meant to quote.

+!

+ I think it's like 5 now!

This was the first thing that popped into my head. There are also a lot of great Jim and Pam moments from the office. I'm partial to the scene where Pam tells him that her father is leaving her mother because he realized that he never felt the love for her mother that Jim described feeling for Pam.

Ok, but be specific. The best scene is when he gives her his best sexy eyes when she’s at the piano with his sister, and she gives them right back.

NP. I came here to post this. But it’s not when they exchange glances, it’s when she begins singing and he looks like this:

Lassie and Marlowe for sure!

Sadly I never felt like Shawn and Juliette were as perfectly matched. In the beginning, they were good - but as their relationship went on I feel like it unfortunately soured. Now in the movies I feel kind of sad for them both, actually.
