My partner has woken up at 5-5,15 since he was 2 years old. He's 62 now. Move your daughter's bedtime to accommodate the morning routine, because whether it changes later or not, this is the phase for now. |
10yo with 8 bedtime, 7 wake... some kids need more sleep. |
You are aware that the amount of daytime changes through the year? Should we put kids to sleep at 4-5 in December? |
I never said they should be in bed at sunset I simply stated that they should be able to use all available daylight if they want to and the daylight thing wasn't even my primary argument. |
| My 5 year old goes to bed at 8:30-9 during the summer. Gets up at 7:30. I would try a later bedtime. |
OP tell her breakfast is at 6:30 every morning. If she's up earlier she waits. |

Just be consistent, and understand that some kids are early risers.
My 7 year old wakes around 6am most days, but he cannot come out of his room until 645am. He has an OK to wake clock, and if he comes out before then we just say "it's not time to wake up" and ignore him. It took some practice, but it eventually stuck. 5 years old is old enough that it shouldn't really matter to you what time she wakes, it just matters what time she wakes the rest of the house! So make it clear that if she cannot sleep, she needs to be in her room quiet until a later time. We also set out easy to eat breakfast so he can start his own day at 6:45, while we get up and shower. Build a routine for her that doesn't involve you, to give everyone some space to function. Also, our 7 year old is asleep at 7:30, sometimes 8:00 p.m. every night. It's a pretty normal bedtime for that age. Sorry, and hang in there! |
| My 5 year old goes to bed at 8 and is up by 630. I agree to make her bedtime to 8 at the earliest, do it in 15 minute increments. |
