Give her access to cereal, fruit, or yogurt or something she can get on her own for breakfast (or the first part of breakfast if you want to prepare something for her when you are ready). |
I've i always viewed anything under 8:00 to be excessively early for school age children considering how late they get home from school and the fact that they have homework which can really eat into their personal time plus the fact that its still very bright out at 8:00pm so they could be outside playing instead of laying in bed. |

My 6yo is typically exhausted by 8pm and will be laying against me while we read books. Falls asleep quickly once I leave. They are pretty active during the day right now though. Wake time is inconsistent but overall they wake up earlier during the summer, sometimes even at 530! But when they are sufficiently tired out they will typically sleep past 6. Even with their room being dark I'm convinced it still has to do with the earlier sunrise. |

I'm assuming no nap?
My 5 year old still naps sometimes, but when she doesn't, she goes to bed at 8pm and wakes at 6:30am. We don't allow her out of bed until the wake clock goes off. Then if she gets up early, she is more likely to fall back asleep. I also recommend getting very good room darkening curtains since the morning sun can be bright in the summer. |

Some kids sleep in longer if they go to bed earlier.
My kids were in bed by 7/7:30 at that age, though one of them woke up at 5/5:30 no matter when they went to bed. They started sleeping in until 7 in 4th grade. |

She gets up with the sun. Sounds pretty normal. It's rather light outside at 5:30am.
For many people (even kids), it doesn't matter if they go to bed later - if they sense daylight, they will get up. |
| Room darkening shades? I would set her up the night before with a snack she can have in the morning, so she can stay in her room a little longer. |
| We have a sleeping bag on our floor. My 5 year old (who goes to bed around 8:45 on days she naps - at preschool - and around 8 if she doesn’t nap, which is typically the weekend) has been waking up way too early. Today she came and woke me up at 5:15 and I told her to lie down in the sleeping bag and I’d hold her hand. She was back asleep quickly and slept to about 7. |
| Mine did this for a long time. Every day between 5:30 and 6:00. We made a deal that she could play quietly in her room until 7:00 and then we would get up and do breakfast. She's just an early riser. Needs 10 hours of sleep - no more no less. |
| I'm a single parent and my son had so much energy as a kid. I dreamed of the day when he would sleep past 6:30am. I just left out a container of dry cereal and a cup of milk in the fridge. My kid would watch TV until I got up. Now he's 17 and easily sleeps 12+ hrs straight but I can't sleep past 8am. Ironic. |
| Room darkening shades and white noise. The sun is coming up early, and the light may be waking her up. |

My #2 wakes up at 6, #1 wakes up at 7, and my wife cannot bear getting up one minute before 7:30.
Her tip to you would be: your spouse will take care of it. |
| The sun is up. Why don’t you just go to bed earlier? 10pm to 5:30am is 7.5 hours, plenty for most people. I hate it that parents try to prevent kids from behaving like normal diurnal mammals. |
