I disagree. I’ve received what were intended to be pats on the back, but that actually hurt. Watch the reactions of the people standing around Giuliani. The woman to his left immediately, instinctively reaches over and rubs Giuliano’s back in response. A man across from him looks alarmed and appears to be trying to decide whether to pursue the slapper. Judging by the reactions of the witnesses, I’m guessing the slap was audible. I agree it doesn’t look like much, but the reactions of the witnesses say it all. Coming up behind an unsuspecting elderly person and purposely striking them should be illegal. I have no sympathy for the legal predicament the grocery store clerk finds himself in.

Having said all that, Giuliani is deserving of suffering, so I won’t be losing any sleep over his momentary discomfort.
