Help! Please let me know some brands/stores I can buy these types of clothes in!

I like the anthro ones. The tuckernut ones are so unflattering—I would feel serious depressed walking around in those.

Try Bella Tu website. Cute Stuff, tropical and well made.

Maybe the less expensive ones for the day or evening cocktails and then a dressier one for wedding. So old navy and then the anthro one? I’d not spend a fortune if you’ll never have use for them again.

If you already own a good piece of jewelry, great pair of Sandals/shoes, and a linen or cashmere type wrap, nice evening clutch, you can make the less expensive dresses work. If you don’t, that is where id put my money as you will use over and over again.

hmm, you know what, it looked cuter in person than it dos on the model. I feel like it has a caftan vibe, (even though it's sleeveless) and would work more for something in the daytime.

I was looking at this LOFT dress:
https://www.loft.com/colorblock-tiered-maxi-pocket-dress/585848?skuId=33322599&defaultColor=2392&catid=catl000013&selectedColor=2392

Otherwise - think about Lily Pulitzer - that brand gets a lot of shit on this site but brightly colored caftans could be fun.

YIKES!

+1 your event is not one you can get away with old navy or loft. They look like they cost - cheap and no amount of accessories will change that

Please do not show up to these events in a cotton sack from Old Navy. If you don’t want to pay full price for a few nicer dresses, especially if you don’t think you’ll wear them again, either look at Rent the Runway or buy something used on a resale site/Poshmark.

I bought both of these for a recent trip to Hawaii:

https://www.nordstromrack.com/s/max-studio-textured-sleeveless-a-line-dress/6037917

(The second one looks much better on depending on your figure. I bought it as more of a day cover-up when we were also going out and wore with wedges.)

With your parameters I would go with a pair of nice linen pants with a cute top and a sundress or two, paired with a fun hat. For me the most important thing is the fabric - nothing polyester or anything that would make you sweat, so I personally would stick to natural fabrics like linen, cotton or silk (although silk might be too fussy for the beach). Fair warning, that while I consider my taste to be "timeless and classic", my teenagers call it "boring", so with that caveat here are some ideas that I liked:

Talbot has a couple of maxi choices here.

Also a cute linen midi sundress if you can wear orange. (I can't.)

Not Team Caftan.

Pre-Covid went to an "island destination wedding." Took a couple cotton fit 'n flare dresses and dressy cropped khakis for non-wedding events. Dress for wedding/reception was a dressier floaty-chiffon thing.

The one thing that I wish that I would have packed was a nicer beach coverup that didn't show that it was wet for a sailboat cruise event.

Dressy cropped khakis seems like an oxymoron
