Not OP- but even your children may be acting out. You just don’t know what is going on at school. OP- I’m sorry. I do agree though it’s so late to be going to school. My HS had a tremendous number of assignments/ projects this week. |

As a veteran teacher, this entire year has been harder than others. The behaviors this year were more extreme and widespread than ever before. And the disconnect from parents and school was like something I’ve never seen before.
A lot of kids dealt with trauma in 2020 and 2021. We as a system are not well informed on dealing with that trauma. We have work to do there. The other issue I see is making up snow days at the end of the year. Historically, we miss instructional days in late 2nd and early 3rd quarter. Making them up at the end of 4th quarter does no good. Either let them be made up earlier in the year or don’t bother. Once Memorial Day hits, everyone is done and it’s a downward slide from there. Hang in there everyone, 1.5 days to go! We got this!! |
Thank you! --op |
OMG OMG society in freefall decline! Maybe electing Republicans to the board of education will save us? Never mind their stance on women's health, guns, and democracy. |
This is why I moved my kids to private and why they will stay there through HS. |
Op here and I'm very very much a liberal! |
This person bringing up the BOE race all the time is comical. Ignore her. She's all over twitter trashing the newcomers to the race and all their supporters. Clearly she feels threatened. |
And some kids will start school before others in August. And some schools have different breaks. This has been the case as long as there have been different schools on different calendars.

This is one of the many problems with our education system, they should have synchronized calendars and schedules. |
I'd like to see the focus on quality of educational instruction instead of the quantity of it. More time in the classroom doesn't equal more learning, especially in high school. There is not reason to have a seven-hour school day that goes from August to nearly the first day of summer in June. It's too much. |
Didn't they take the AP exams a month ago? Why are they still teaching content now -- seems a little too late. |

place the blame where it lies |
Nice idea but would have 0 impact. |
That's what all the GOP operatives say... |
