So don’t buy one. Supply and demand sets the price. |
I mean there are only a few dealers that say they do MSRP off the bat. You have to be quick to buy it once it is available or someone else will beat you to it, plus you might have to wait for it to arrive. I mentioned Alexandria Toyota, but there are other dealers, like Warrenton Toyota who also does MSRP, but you can't reserve one, you have to wait until it gets on the lot and then be the first one there. Other dealers advertise a higher price, but on certain models you can negotiate them down to MSRP, but not on others. Other dealers won't go down to MSRP. |

I was looking at Koons Toyota prices too. They are eye popping high, 5k over MSRP easy. WTF? |
I've bought a couple cars from Koons Toyota before also. I didn't even bother with them this time because of the prices they were advertising on their website. |
| Avoid Ourisman Rockville too, if you want to avoid markups. I walked out when they wanted $5k more on the VW ID.4, but now someone on Yelp is saying they want $10k ADM on the same car. |

There WAS a shortage of vehicles earlier this year, now we are headed towards a glut! The stock market crashing, interest rates headed up, economy going into recession. By the end of the year, if not sooner, dealers will wish they could get MSRP for their vehicles.
Here is the link to local toyota inventory. I will be in the market for a vehicle in the next few months. Inventory was tight the beginning of 2022, but now there are 285 toyota highlanders in my local area! Watch this inventory build and build. Don't let some sleazy salesperson con you into overpaying. Email around, be firm, you will get an at or below MSRP price. |
And to throw out a few more example. At the beginning of 2022 there were pretty much no 4 Runners to be had locally. None. Now there are 100 sitting there in northern virginia dealerships, and probably collecting dust. Likewise, RAVs had low inventory. Now there are 400 (!) sitting here in local lots. If you go into a dealership clueless they will take advantage of you and lie to your face. Do a little research! |
Most of those vehicles are probably allocated and in transit, with almost all having been presold. |
| Dealers are not sitting on hundreds of cars in inventory. Drive by the lots and send us photos. Toyota cut new car production by 150,000 vehicles last month and announced another cut of 50,000 vehicles through July. |
| Jeep Wrangler. |
| Alfa-Romeo, Fiat, Maserati, Jaguar. |
Use the manufacturer's online tool to build your car. It shows the base MSRP and you can add additional options if you like. You order and pick the dealership where you want your car to be shipped. |
Can you really do this? |
