What? So algebra 2 lasts from September- January and then that's it? Why? Nearly every course I took in HS went from September through June with a midterm in January and a final in June. |
No, there is Algebra 2A in the fall semester, which has a final grade, then Algebra 2B in the spring semester, which also has a final grade. Both courses' grades are reported on the transcript. |
Troll, the private school forum is over there---------> |
I went to a public school. I've just never heard of this before. |
And in many cases students will have different teachers, classmates, class periods, and/or classrooms in the second semester. |
| My HSer has exams on Tuesday. |
Everyone has classes next week. This is just another troll trying to spread their misery. |
Listening to my kid it sounds like they brought back final exams. |
They have unit tests periodically, but it's not like the final exams where they were tested on all the material covered in the class. |
| I guess too many kids were failing the exams so they got rid of them. That’s one way to close the achievement gap. |
Seriously? I’m a teacher and I would not do this. Because an exam grade can change the final grade significantly. There will be no time for a student to do anything to improve their grade if they tank this final test. And many kids are absent in the last week. I’m a tough grader but last week was my final week for any new assignments. This gives me time to put everything in the grade book by this weekend and work with kids who need or want to improve their grades. My class will just chill next week. |
More because they have APs/IBs and all the state mandated testing. Enough testing! |
| In our MS classes on Friday we'll set up a Wii on the Promethean and play Mario Kart. |
| My Junior hasn’t done much in most of his classes since the AP exams a month ago. |
One of the teachers only allows the minimum required retakes (1 per quarter?) and that was early in the quarter. |
