No A/C in my kids school for second day in a row

Hate to break it to you, but DCPS staffers, including leadership, are already home 4 days a week.

I’m shocked lol hence why agency heads are canvassing hard for mayor election. They like remote work and lack of being held accountable

Which ward? Tweet at DGS, DCPS, your current council member, and whoever is running for council, if applicable. Try to shame them into action.

I’ll name names. Janney is hot. Some classes are hitting 85 degrees in the rooms. Parents need to call email tweet or something. The kids are melting. Some rooms in the building haven’t had AC in over two weeks never mind two days

I'm a DCPS teacher. I drank sooo much water today to keep hydrated from sweating so much, but of course I can't use the bathroom whenever I want. When I had to get the principal to cover my class for 2 minutes so I could pee, I got told I need to plan my time better.

Tomorrow I just won't drink as much water. Maybe I'll pass out from the heat and wet myself lying on my classroom floor.

I’m a DCPS teacher and your principal sucks and I’m sorry you can’t even use the restroom at your job. I know you are not alone in that, but these are the type of issues that cause teachers to take mental health days. Parents just can’t fully appreciate some of the crap teachers put up with.

Also the admins are just as frustrated and are doing everything they can. It’s not them it’s DGS

It’s always been dgs. We know this from yrs of watching it play out. I’d advise those who know the schools having issues to reach out to every politician who is up for re-election as they may help. Oh minus the mayor yeah she don’t care unless you a developer.

Janney?? Isn't that the jewel of DCPS where everything is paved in gold? How can they have AC problems? Surprised the PTA hasn't bought every class individual AC units to use in emergencies like this.

are you the same Langdon mom who was talking about the lack of heat in the winter? I think you even went on the news about how your 3-year-old had to take a nap with a coat on.
Sounds like your school has poor insulation. I am not sure that seasonal complaining is going to do much.

NP but if parents don’t complain to the media, politicians, etc. then nothing will get done. I don’t blame this parent for at least trying.

File a union grievance about the Principal.

It’s an urgent health issue. My daughter could easily pass out from overheating in such conditions.

She has every right to complain!!! The USA is the richest country in the world yet kids have to endure such conditions?!? Something is very wrong if you think this is normal…

Before DCPS had AC, they’d cancel school when the weather was this hot.

Yes. There are several rooms in Janney with no ac. It’s not the whole building, but rooms here and there. Yes this is the fault of DGS the individual school. Btw when it’s 90 outside it’s hotter inside. Especially on the 3rd floor.
