I'm a long term city resident who is planning on moving very soon. Alexandria is nothing like it was 25 years ago. I can't even imagine what this place will be like 10 years from now especially the west end.

+1 - one more kid to graduate and then out. Was a great place (and still is in some areas) but I would not recommend to any young family. Your timeframe of 10 years is accurate, sell in the next 5 or so years to be safe. I think anyone who's oldest child is 6th grade or higher and has a choice, will leave.

We used to say we’d never move. It has changed quite a big. Not just density but people (refugees) from failure cities, that won’t leave their failure behind, and bring their problems and failure with them.
