What does that mean that Naviance no longer tracks below 4.0? I see gpas below that on Scattergrams

I mean that the old data not longer "tracks" i.e. is not predictive, of whether your 3.5 is good enough today, even on a chart with only green check marks.

High schools vary a lot by how many years they go back

It doesn't matter. College are changing everything.

It does matter. Gpa info from past three years is more relevant than past ten years, assuming enough data.

My DD with similar stats got in to W&M ED. She pulled applications after that, but before ED came out she was also accepted to VCU and Mary Washington with decent merit awards, so those are two you might consider as safeties.

It's not a remotely balanced list. Apart from Loyola and maybe Elon, those schools all are in the same selectivity range: she could get into all of them or be completely shut out.

No. Without knowing more (no if APs, if any, ECs), it’s unlikely she will get into W&M. Even the bottom 25 percent of enrolled lass last fall had a 31. 75th percentile has a 4.5 gpa.

I’m going to guess based on her parent posting here, the private schools chosen, and her stats, this is a kid likely from a good dmv public with at least six APs by application time, at least some modest ECs, and little to no financial need. If that’s the case, she has a great shot at most of these.

You don’t know that. Her stats are too low for W&M according to SCHEV

Of course not. It says “guess” and “most.” And the financial need speaks to the private schools.

As long as her child can see themselves at the ones that are likely on the list and applies to those EA (if available) and uses ED strategically, they should be fine. You don’t need six schools that are likely, if you have three true likely schools - and this means they accept over half of the applicants in your major/field AND your stats are competitive - and you put in the effort into the application/essay and showing interest that should be enough to have options/choices. My child had the 3 schools that were likely including one in state school, 4 schools in that 30- 40% acceptance rates where they were within range and it could go either way and 3 big reaches. That was honestly enough. The challenge was finding the ones would be happy to attend, likely to get in and we could afford - that was harder than finding matches/reaches.

She's a girl with a 30 on the ACT. That's a highly unlikely admit to William & Mary, especially with only a 3.7.

I think the only sure bet on her list is Loyola. Some of the others a likelies, but not definites.
