Honestly, there’s no downsides to having money

Don't limit yourself with this mentality. There is a beautiful world out there that has no bounds. Some things just don't have a price ticket with it.

I agree with your premise (money good!) but your list of benefits conferred by money is seriously weird. Big benefits of having money imo: no stress about unexpected expenses, being able to afford to take care of your physical and mental health whatever form that may take, just generally having a cushion/safety net as you move through the world. If I wanted to talk to interesting, intelligent, cultured people, I would seek out humanities PhD students, who are all dirt poor.

Being rich has lots of perks, but it does have downsides.

It is incredibly lonely and isolating.

But rich people rarely mingle with or befriend poor people so there’s little chance of making an acquaintance with someone who could use you for your wealth.

There ar elite is valid ladder climbers who are rich themselves.

It’s actually not. It’s spectacular. My DH chased the IPO dragon and won. There is nothing lonely about being wealthy.

I can’t think of a single negative thing that money brought into our lives.

Is your family of origin wealthy? Are your childhood friends wealthy?

Because if not, it is lonely and common for people to constantly ask your for money.

No, I actually support one of my siblings. We are IPO money. Very new money and it is spectacular!

We are pretty well off (business class international level) but a part of my extended family is private jet level of wealthy. I was always in slight awe of them, but found out that they are now largely estranged due to - yes - money. No thanks!

NP You seem kinda dumb and lacking introspection and a broad worldview, to be honest. There’s a reason many many many people throughout time have said the equivalent of “mo money mo problems”. Just because it hasn’t affected you personally yet, doesn’t mean it never will

I am sure different posters have different numbers in mind. Based on other threads, I am guessing a number of posters are thinking HHI above $250,000. Don't know what number OP had in mind.

What? 250k is middle class.

My very rich brothers only child daughter only had moochers circling her. Now the worse of the worse a guy who hates rich people and everything they stand for is marrying his only daughter.

Ironic he wants new cars, new houses, massive wedding, paid for honeymoon, fancy dinners all paid for by my brother.

He loves other peoples money. My brother now has no one to leave his money to. He worked 60 hours a week for 40 years for nothing. I think he have been happier as a cop and daughter married a guy whose intentions would have been pure

Wealth can bring comfort. But it cannot always bring health. I would live a middle class life forever if I knew I would run into no health problems.

Money makes everything easier, but it can't make you happy.

Some of the happiest people I know aren't wealthy. They have families they care about and jobs that fulfill them, goals they are working towards.

Might they be even happier with more disposable income? Sure.

I also know some pretty miserable people with a lot of money.

Only in DCUMlandia. In reality, the median HHI in the DC metropolitan region is about $85-90K. Middle class is around $75-100K and UMC is about $100K-$150K. $250K is around the top 3% of the region. The only thing that is middle of is middle of the upper class.
