Promposal- girl asking girl

Anonymous
The only complaint that I have is that promposals exist. They are dumb and too much "look at me" behavior. The girl on girl wouldn't phase me or my DC at all.

How should you handle the situation where the girl who is being asked out to prom is not lesbian / bi ?

Actually all teen boys hate them but the girls want to make something social media trendy and something to brag about. So now it is expected. It is beyond stupid

Exactly. Why do teen boys went to ask the "try hards" to the prom anyway?

My DS refused to do it and he and his girlfriend broke up over it. He said if she needed that much attention/validation they'd never survive going to separate colleges anyways.

My daughter would have broken up with anyone who did this. I would say they should get together, be she is gay

No it isn't!

+100. Gay teens are very understanding about other kids and doing what they want to do no matter what anyone says.

No. Legit gay teens are SICK of folks pretending to be gay bc it's trendy

She isn't pretending to be gay. Shut up!

The reason you are so triggered is because you know I'm right. Co-opting LGBTQ+ like you're going to have a same-sex wedding but really it's just a party with your bestie because you're not gay. It really diminishes the struggles of same sex couples who fought to get their relationships recognized

Is this a national thing or just a DC thing? Sounds terrible

I've seen a few same-sex promposals on my various social media feeds.

It may be her way of testing the waters... wants to go with someone she likes but isn't ready to label herself yet. Nothing wrong with that!

Have fun!!

There is far more societal pressure to become LGTBQI+ in the D.C. area than in most other parts of the USA.

You are insane there is no pressure to become lgtbqi we queers know More than anyone that you can't change who you naturally are.

This whole social media is trying to make you gay or buy thing is just the 2022 version of the gay agenda of the '90s

Also promposals are dumb but it's what the kids are into. So what can you do?

In 2018 at my daughters HS there were lots of girl "groups", as well as co-ed friend groups that went with no real date assignments. I can easily see how friends would ask friends for the photo op if nothing else. It's cute - and fast forward 4 years - at my daughters "top" sorority, lots of girls just bring same-sex friends to the formal these days instead of a random date - very common and surprised me too but totally get it.

In 2022, what girls are especially into is pretending to be lesbian solely because it’s trendy and gets them the attention they so desperately want.

PP, as a true queer, this trendy-ness / fake queer is what should truly offend you.

Why don’t you get involved with a teen group so you can get these kids to ask themselves the tough question: “am I really gay?”
