Getting a butler?

A family member owns a household staffing company for 10 years and she said that she has never had a request for a butler. In today's world it's a family assistant or household manager.

This is hysterical. OP is trolling. Alternatively they live in a McCraftsman that they have named some pretentious name and put up a plaque on the front. “Oh, I’m returning to Sheffield House after my sojourn to Aldi.”

We convinced my youngest brother to play act a butler. He loved it and we could ring a bell and ask him to get us food/drinks from the kitchen or wash our dishes. Lasted a few months before the novelty ran out for him.

"Help Wanted: When Managing Your Home Requires a Full-Time Hire
Struggling to keep up with the demands of maintaining a property? Maybe it’s time to hire an estate manager

Even the most successful business executives may struggle managing the home front, where operating expenses can reach upward of $5 million a year. As a result, there’s a growing demand for household and estate managers who can do everything from overseeing home renovations to taking the dogs to the vet.

The first step, Mr. Horowitz says, is to assess the client’s portfolio of properties—homes, yachts and planes—and determine the staffing required to manage them. Geller then creates a financial plan that covers operating costs like maintenance, taxes and staffing. Finally, the company helps recruit and place candidates, as well as provide payroll and human-resources support."

Remember, you don't hire a butler. The estate manager hires the butler for you.

What kind of income are you looking at to be able to afford and warrant an estate manager? I'm guessing that when you have at least 3 homes plus a plane or boat longer than 50', you need an estate manager. What's the typical income for the rich person - $5m per year to justify the expense?

I imagine they're at a level where their balance sheet is what matters, not their income.

OP here. Our property does have a name; I’d rather not state it here. We have an extremely large household by population.

OP here. I have some tests, including physical and artistic ones, that I’d like to put a Butler through myself.

Balance sheets don't pay the day-to-day bills. You need income flows or assets sales (which becomes income when you sell at a gain) to fund the salaries of your staff.

Unless, of course, you imply that these rich folks are just drawing down principle.
