Preach! |
I do agree with this but I have been impressed with the attendings at GW when I've had urgent questions so far. |
| Nora is still listed on the website, as are Katie and Hannah. Are they really all leaving? |

Just delivered!
When I arrived in labor, there were 2 OBs on. They were kind, reviewed my birth preferences, chatted with my partner and doula. They were so supportive. When I started pushing, the midwife had just arrived; I had a lovely albeit quick birth. Then, I started bleeding…a lot. The OB came in and literally saved my life. It’s a new system for sure. But, works fine. I did hear some gossip that answers some questions. Hannah is back. Nora is leaving but will take a few shifts here and there. I love Katie; but did not hear anything. |
What do you mean “it’s a new system?” |
Not sure if you know what attendings are, but they are doctors who are finished with their residencies--4 years in which they deliver a LOT of babies. A first-year attending has probably handled more births in the past few years than a 10th-year attending, and may well be more up to date on the medical literature and standards of practice. |
I’m the PP who made the comment about attendings. I’m a nurse, thanks. |

Is anyone seeing the midwives right now/or recently saw them, and is in their third trimester or just delivered recently?
I’m 28 weeks and as you know their scheduling has always been terrible but after my labcorp glucose test this week, I don’t have any appointments scheduled. I know towards the end of the first trimester we get seen more but I don’t want to keep going in constantly if I don’t NEED to (childcare difficulties/commuting/and a few bills cause my insurance isn’t too great) make that a driving factor. So I want to go in the “minimum” but I don’t know how often others are going in. Note: I haven’t had any complications, my pregnancy is healthy and going as “expect” so I’m not high risk or anything. Thanks ! |
Sorry! Typos Glucose test this past* week And I know towards the end of the third*** trimester we get seen more |
For my complication-less pregnancies, they wanted to see me every four weeks up to 30 weeks I think, then every two weeks to 36 weeks, then every week to 40 weeks, then at least twice a week with induction scheduled for 41 weeks if you make it that far. It's a little fudgable (I once went 3 weeks between visits mid third trimester because the week I should have come in was Thanksgiving week and they were swamped). Talk to your midwife about what the minimum level of visits is. |
| What is the new system referred to above? |
| Are the midwives back to their normal patient load? |
