I'm not even from CA (from this area) and from having visited CA and the southwest can tell you there is no good Mexican food in this area. |
| Clavel in Baltimore. |
|
Also, Xintli in Rockville. Yes, it is a food truck, but it is insanely good:

| OP -- California Mexican food is not really that authentic. Some baja food is but the rest is American like most Chinese is American. Real Mexican is hard to find. El Paso chain in NoVa is quite good. |
| Native Texan here, I like Mi Rancho in Silver Spring as well as Uncle Julio's for TexMex. Can't comment on California Mex as that's just a totally different sub-genre. |
You are mostly wrong about this. But it definitely depends what restaurants in CA you go to. |
| Los Camachos in Arlington |
|

https://www.tacossam.com/ I like those two places |
I definitely agree with Mexican but Thai? |
| Guapos |
| Used to be Alamo in riverdale. |
| El Paso Cafe. The security detail used to take a former US President there. |
When is the last time you went-Yelp page says it's temporarily closed. Is that true? Menu looks amazing. |
Seriously! They are regional specialties. Special to that region. It’s not supposed to be as good elsewhere. That’s what makes them special. |
Went about 5 weeks ago. Yelp is spotty. Check their Facebook page. Or just call them. |
