No. The elite schools in this country have been elite for a very, very long time. That's almost sort of the whole point. No schools that "became elite", like, last year, because they happened to pump their acceptance rate numbers or something. |
Pomona, Rice, Vanderbilt, Carnegie Mellon and Columbia aren’t chopped liver either. |
Just go by tier, all of these are top tier colleges, focusing on specific ranking slots is crazy. Admission process is pretty much a game of luck even for top 1% applicant. 3.7 million student graduated US high schools this year, 37,000 are in top 1%. Ivy League collectively admits 21,000, many of which go to international, athletes, URM, development admits( legacy, donor, famous, powerful families). It’s Russian Roulette. |
Why no one ever cares about the other slac? Are they not worthy of being top? I still don’t under stand what makes Williams special |
Columbia most definitely and would belong close to the top of this list, the rest of your schools are not unambiguously elite. |
This list + Columbia and Penn |
Wow---you just insulted like half the country not to mention Canada. I feel sorry for many of you on this board. so much time wasted comparing to others and focusing only on the "elite" |
Which did you go to? |
Nope. If we’re going to be snobby and elite, let’s be snobby and elite. HYPSM is it, thus the acronym. All the rest are more like those of the Top 25 you don’t want to admit to the club. Sounds like you’re trying to get yourself into a club where you don’t belong. |
No, don't be ridiculous. It's only Harvard. Harvard is the only elite school, thus the Harvard. All the rest are more like those of the top 10 you don't want to admit to the club. |
Princeton. |
Nonsense. |
No such thing as “elite schools”. Yes, there have been schools for the elite (wealthy) fir a very, very long time. And that’s the whole point. Classism. |
So, you went to Princeton, and you’re spending your time on college ranking p*ssing matches? You’re either a pathetic example of an alum or you’re lying. For Princeton’s sake, I hope it’s the latter. |
Right. Then Harvard it is. Can we now end this thread? |
