He's not a billionaire.

DP. At an estimated nearly half billion net worth, I will be impressed when he commits to giving away on the same scale as MacKenzie Scott.

Do you know what he contributes to charity every year? No, I didn't think so.

Youngkin’s net worth is $470m. Of course he is donating his salary. I hope to hell he is donating way more than that each year. This is a non-story.

Yeah, it makes me uncomfortable when our elected officials have so much money that donating their entire salary (or even a quarter of it) is no big deal at all to them. This has the opposite effect on me of what’s intended—just makes him seem all the more out of touch with issues regular people have to deal with.

+1 Also, the salary you receive as an elected official is what makes you accountable to the people you serve. I hate this weird trend that Trump started of refusing it or “donating” it back to the government.

Exactly. It’s like thumbing your nose at the concept of public service. Donating’s great, but it doesn’t have to connected to the salary.

Yes, we understand that.

Not everyone does.

Uh, whatever it is, its the annual interest on 4% of his net worth. It’s like you donating coffee money.

Right now it is only a quarter of his annual salary. We will see if it continues.

Only if you don't include dividends in his salary. I'm guessing that it's more like a rounding error

They're not donating it "back to the government", but to worthy charities. I'm no MAGA supporter, but some of you people are dense.

Really? I think everyone here got that.

1/4 of a state official salary is a joke.

I don't think that word means what you think it means.

Facts make people dense? While Youngkin has chosen a charity, Trump tried to give his salary back to certain parts of the government. “Trump has made a show of giving away his paycheck, donating his salary to the National Park Service, the Department of Education, the Department of Veterans Affairs, the Small Business Administration, the Surgeon General’s office and the Department of Agriculture.”

What a genuine and spontaneous post from OP! I'm sure this isn't at all a calculated astroturfing effort, but rather a totally organic move from a real constituent totally unrelated to the Youngkin campaign!

And black people.

Don’t forget LGBTQ people too! But everyone who voted for him hates them too, some just hide it to fit in with their friends.

Yup. Who doesn't he hate? White, Christian nationalist men.

The fact that people think that an obvious PR stunt of donating what amounts to pocket change for Youngkin makes him a "great guy" speaks volumes about the critical thinking skills of GOP voters.

You snowflakes want us to stop calling you morons and "low information" voters? Stop loudly and publicly proving us right time after time.
