I just put in a request in both programs for a tutor for the AP Gov test. Hopefully, someone will come through.
Thanks for this information,PP's. |
Give it a week or two and then email the companies. It took us a few weeks to get assigned one tutor, but the other we got quickly. |
Its posted above. |
The problem is its always every kid is doing great but in relative terms, the performance is significantly impacted negatively by these unqualified tutors feeding garbage. It was a total waste of time |
If you don't like the tutor assigned, ask for a new tutor. The one tutor we have is fantastic. If MCPS stops paying, we'd continue with him. |
| Does anyone know how long free tutoring will last? Will it be available in the summer and next year? |

I'm just mind-boggled that parents with questions aren't even reading what's publicly available on the MPCS website about the tutoring services and that other parents -- without checking they have correct information -- are answering these questions.
MCPS sent out notices through ParentVue almost two months ago announcing the free tutoring services available to all students. On the MCPS Tutoring and Interventions webpage there's an explanation of the different tutoring models (some require teacher recommendation and others only require student/parent sign-up), a comparison chart of the features of each external vendor program, explanation of how to access, and FAQs. For example, here's one of the FAQs: What can I get help with? Reading, Writing, Mathematics, Social Studies, Science, English, Foreign Languages, test preparation, help with an assignment, anything a student needs help with! https://www.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/curriculum/tutoring.aspx From the linked page above (in part -- there's much more information there -- go check it out!): TUTORING As part of strategic efforts to mitigate learning disruption, high dosage tutoring and are an important strategy to accelerate learning at a student’s grade level or above; to support students who are performing below grade level; or to provide additional support beyond classroom instruction to support student success. New - Free, On-Demand Online/Virtual Tutoring Available for All Students, K-12 New Partnerships with FEV Tutor and Tutor Me Education Beginning on January 25, 2022, all students will have access to free tutoring and 24/7 Homework Help to support success in their current courses/grade level, through two new approved tutoring providers, FEV Tutor and Tutor Me Education. As part of comprehensive strategies to mitigate learning disruption associated with the pandemic, all students will have access to these virtual tutoring services through their MCPS Google Account, using Clever. Some students will also be referred directly by their local school. EXTERNAL TUTORING PROVIDERS In addition to using MCPS staff to provide high dosage tutoring and interventions, Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) has contracted with two external tutoring companies to provide tutoring services to students. This will ensure a robust tutoring program in all schools so that every student in need of support is able to receive it. Schools will continue to identify students in need of high dosage tutoring aligned with MCPS curricula and refer students to these external vendors. |
No one knows. We now have two tutors and it’s fantastic. I hope they keep it. |
DCUM is often mind-boggling! Too many trolls from other places - privates, astroturfers, russians, etc - with no real knowledge of what's going on. They just want to stir trouble. |
Your post is a good example of conspiracies spewed on these forums. |
| Any update on how long the tutoring will last? Even the tutors started asking. |
It looked like it was remaining through the summer from something I saw posted. |
