Did people just gain a ton of weight over the last 2 years?

If we charged people less for being in shape this would be avoided, things like Uber, airlines, health insurance etc

All of the people I know who do peloton are not thin.

I gained 20 pounds.

Gyms were only closed for 3 months. They've been open since June 2020.

Yep pandemic, but also losing a pregnancy very late. Not fun reasons to be fat.

It's costs everyone more money when the entire country is in the hook for lifestyle realted diseases and all of the costs get passed down directly or tangentially to society.

We traveled to Japan in 2019 right before the pandemic. It is insane how much bigger Americans are than people in Asia, and I'm not talking about height. A woman who's probably an S size in the US would be about an L to XL in clothing sizes in Asia. Americans are eating garbage food and not exercising. It is terrible for the country. I honestly think alcohol consumption has a lot to do with it too. People are drinking too much these days. Every social event or get together requires multiple cocktails or beers. That adds up to a ton of calories per week.

I know Americans are fat, but either we haven't been around people in a reallyong time, or people have just gotten massive. It is crazy how much weight Americans pack onto their frames. I mean there were women there who were probably 5'1" -5'3" and easily over 170 lbs. Nearly every dude seemed to be well over 200 lbs. How did everyone get so fat? Was it COVID that made it worse? It is truly shocking to see the size of people if you watch movies from the 1970s and 80s. People were way healthier back then.

I put on the COVID 19.

In the last month I got serious about it and am down 21 and looking for more.

It’s fine to discriminate against fat people. They aren’t some protected class.

People use that word “discriminate” wrong all the time. When you choose onion rings over fries at dinner, you just discriminated against the fries. Which is fine (although both onion rings and fries will make you fat.)

I lost weight due to stress and depression and am trying to put more on. Eating junk food makes me feel unwell so it’s not easy to gain. Being too thin like TV actors is also very unhealthy, I have learned.

The is and I think growth hormones in dairy must contribute to Americans being so big. I don’t mean fat. I mean big boned.

Probably. It was a tremendously stressful period for many where their social circles were taken away. Not to mention, gyms and other forms of exercise and release. Mental and physical health suffered. I would be surprised if people didn’t gain weight.

Discrimination based on body image is NOT OK!

Me too. Giving you virtual hugs.

Can I have one, too?

I gained a ton from stress….and from turning 45 right before 2020.

Yes. (((Hugs)))

Thank you, PP. ❤️
