How is this even possible? How long did they wait to look at the footage? Wouldn't the phone have still been in the thief's possession? |
OP the reality is you move to Alexandria if you can't afford to live in North Arlington. Many people can't afford private school after purchasing in Alexandria so have to make the best of it. Besides, it's your kids that will have to deal with ACPS, not you. |
Wut? People pick Old Town and Del Ray over N Arlington allllllllllll daaaaaaayyyyy long. You couldn't pay people in Del Ray to move to N Arlington. |
What ACPS elementary school is unaccredited? |
All are accredited. |
Correct. How embarrassing for PP. |
Yes, I just read the news release that JH became fully accredited in 2019, for the first time in over 10 years. Embarrassing indeed. APS deals with poverty but the schools still manage to educate. |
The majority of kids that you know is a tiny fraction of kids in ACPS. It's very insulting to imply that parents who complain really sent their kids to private or their kids "were a bad fit" for public school. Please define "bad fit". Sadly, ACPS will never improve because of attitudes like yours (Parents who complain are lying and don't really send their kids there anyway. Kids who struggle and/or are failed by ACPS are "a bad fit"). Your experience (and I'm happy your kids and friends loved their experience) isn't the same as everyone else's experience but that doesn't make them liars and their kids some how flawed. Why aren't you willing to have an open mind and listen to those who didn't love ACPS instead of negating their lived experiences? |
Very well said. |
Empty platitudes on equity and “everyone succeeds” mottos.
Wasted money on pointless initiatives, useless resources, overpaid consultants, and worthless curricula (that do nothing to advance equity or academic success). Underfunded capital resources. Lack of transparency and accountability. Overpaid high-level underperforming, unqualified management. Underpaid, disenfranchised and disempowered mid level managers and line staff. These problems existed before Hutchings, but he has made all of them worse. |
This pretty much sums it up |
It does. I will add to this parents like the poster further up the thread who try to discredit other parents who don't share their rosy view of ACPS. That includes the PTAs and especially PTAC board who actively attack anyone who criticizes ACPS (they should really stop talking about this in public ![]() And a toothless School Board who view parents as the enemy too. The entire system is broken. |
Thank you so much for saying this. ACPS is full of apologists. Every time I point out the terrible experience DS had, we are told it was his fault, or that I'm racist, or that I didn't support him enough. None of those things are true. People have been disappointed with ACPS for forever because of systemic problems. This should be abundantly clear... just because some people love living in Old Town (myself included) and are in denial about having to leave, doesn't mean we have to apologize for our shitty schools. |
Well said. This is it in a nutshell. |
Only because the state lowered the standards. |
