Some serious shit would have to go down before I would ever do this. |
many restaurants can pull a duplicate receipt. |
Especially with the spike in food prices, I wouldn’t assume the website prices are what is on the menu at the restaurant. OP, without an itemized receipt how do you plan to go about this conversation? |
If you know that it’s possibly correct… it was probably correct. Inflation has been nasty. My husband’s order at our local go-to has gone from $22 to $31. |
I really want to know what the amount of the discrepancy is! |
You don’t have the receipt. You didn’t catch it then. Prices may have gone up. Gratuity was likely added if it was a group. Unless it is different to a magnitude of 10 (ie the poster charged $1200 instead of $120), accept that you probably just misjudged what you were going to spend that evening. |
I forgot to close out my bill at a bar. I had 1 glass of wine and was poor, fresh out of college and noticed the bill on my credit card was $90. I knew that was incorrect so I called the bar and they found the correct statement and said I had been mischarged and corrected it. I would definitely call. It happens. |
OP I think the problem here is that you should have dealt with this before you paid the bill.
If you want to call, call and ask if they can print you another receipt. If they can, go through it and see if you can tell what happened. |
Asking to speak to the (general) manager isn't a great look in these troubled times. |
You don't have anything better to do with your time? Remember, the time you are investing in this has a dollar value as well. |
What does this even mean? If somebody suspects a mistake you shouldn’t say anything? There’s nothing wrong in speaking to somebody to correct an issue. I think she has gotten very good advice about going during non-busy times. |
The problem is not with the restaurant, the problem is with whoever holds the original check, and nobody knows how many people didn't throw in their credit cards. OP, what makes you think it all was split by 12 people or whatever the amount of people was? Do you have the check number? We would have to go looking for the check according to the time, and it's not as easy as you all think. Do restaurants a favor, whoever agrees with OP, don't go out to restaurants. OP, doesn't have the check, doesn't know who paid and who didn't, and also, has yet to tell us the amount. I bet you it's like $20-$30 max. Call the person who organized it and they will give you the $20. |
no but I have gone in with my receipt and explained VERY nicely what the concern I had was. |
OMG i ran a restaurant. They should be able to pul the receipt and the bill. They may have to call you back. This isn't 1979.
Be polite, let them know you need an itemized receipt and see what it says |
Restaurants don’t update their websites often, unless it’s a big chain. I think OP is really nickel and dining this since they won’t even say how big the discrepancy is. And without a receipt no less. |
