Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS)
This actually made me laugh out loud. My guess is if any aoplogy was mentioned, it was Ms. Omeish requesting Dr. Brabrand apologixe for being"just dumb and too white." |
| I sincerely hope Omeish is voted out in the next election. I can't vote her out since I'm a Fairfax City resident . My issue with her is all of her abstentions, especially with pandemic issues and return to school. What is the point of being on the board if you refuse to vote. It's not like a recusal because she a decision would say directly effect her employer etc.. She also seems very clueless at most meeting that I have watched. She pushes to divide versus unite. She also doesn't seem to know proper procedure (Roberts Rules) or care to learn. I don't care that she is Muslim or young. She just has no qualifications. All of her let's take the pulse of the board and talking in circles last year helped no-one at all. Several others should be tossed over various issues, but she needs to go for sheer incompetence. The student member last year Nathan (sadly I can't remember his last name) was much more competent than Omeish. |
Bingo. This is hands down the worst School Board I’ve ever seen in FCPS. Between the lies, hypocrisy, and incompetence they should all be removed and disqualified from ever holding public office again. |
What are your qualifications for either? |
This. This was a Big.Fat.Lie. But was spewed with no impunity and that lie got him elected. Period. |
Nathan Onibudu. He was more than just competent. He was the smartest person at the table, and the best advocate for my FCPS kids during the pandemic. He’s at UVA now, I think, and I hope he’s doing well and happy. |

CRT-infused pedagogy took over in FCPS once Brabrand realized his efforts to actually improve student performance had failed. His mantra became "equity is at the center of everything we do." It was on display when he decided to single-handedly try and reject merit-based admissions to TJ.
Turns out that many people prefer that public schools focus on education, not politics and social justice. And it's not lost on people what total hypocrites they are - kicking Asians from western Fairfax under the bus because they are soft targets but keeping Langley HS free of any economic diversity. So now Brabrand is on his way out this summer and many current School Board members can expect to be unseated next fall. |
How do the holy and virtuous democrats ever win if all republicans have to do is point out that democrats like to make everything about race? |
This, and far more. The entire SB is horrible and completely dysfunctional. They cannot resign soon enough. |
LOL. Complaining about CRT, passing laws that won't make people feel "uncomfortable" . . . and it's Dems making things about race. Thanks for the laugh. |
I won’t speak to all the local Democrats but the Democrats on the School Board are toxic and need to be removed. They haven’t done a single good thing since taking office. They waste our money on litigation and pay next to no attention to the basics. |
+1. Completely agree. Thanks for stating your posture so clearly and respectfully. |
With all do respect, if you do some research on Luke Rosiak’s accomplishments, you will find the answers to your questions. While you are at it, you may also want to search the credentials and type of expertise on the field of education activists Frish, Omeish, and Cohen have that would have merited them to have a seat on the school board. Regardless, I can tell you one thing: Rosiak’s book helped me understand better about pressing issues regarding our kids’ education that, unfortunately, the FCPS School Board doesn’t care to address. By contrast, every time I hear Omeish preach I am left with a headache from her lengthy (and empty) populist rhetoric; not to mention the carte blanche Frish and Cohen seem to have with their roles at the board to be able to satisfy their self-serving cause instead of focusing on the needs of the overall student community. As a Fairfax Co. resident and parent, many of the school events and experiences described in this book are relatable in many levels, particularly these past two years. Moreover, no one can deny that as a result of the pandemic —and regardless of where one stands on the issue—, so many peoples’ lives were forever changed (e.g. the lady who recently addressed the unresponsive School Board about the tragic suicide of her son during COVID). After what we have been through, I can see your reluctance to even trust Rosiak, however, unlike you, I really don’t need an epidemiologist nor an educator to persuade me how to process these past two years: I was there. |
Cute but how do Dems EVER win if all republicans have to do is stir up the latent evil racism in the hearts of all the white folk if that’s how Youngkin won? |
+1 - well stated. |
