Luxury alright! We got very very lucky and had family take us to Lone ranch in Montana. It was $4760 per NIGHT for the 4 of us, this did include food, but who the hell wants to eat at the same restaurant morning noon and night for 5 days?? It didnt include alcohol and only included horseback riding.
When all was said and done, just for our family was 30k for 5 nights after taxes, tips, and activities.

Had we been paying i would have felt like a sucker. I don't think there's a single experience on planet earth I'd spend 30k on for 5 days.

Oh and I just looked at their 2022 summer rates. If we went this August for 5 days it would be, with taxes a nightly rate of $6,704.50

The Dude Ranch is winning right now. The activities look amazing. I also don’t want to think about cooking.

Your budget is a pittance foe dude ranches.

You need to get this outnofnyour head. You're not going there.

OP it seems like your standards are too high for the budget you currently have.

If you want reasonable recommendations, you'll have to either lower your standards or increase your budget.

I used to go to the Arizona “cousin” of this Montana dude ranch. It was nice but not luxury by any means, and there wasn’t much to do other than ride (which I loved). Their 6-day week stay is $3,600/adult and $2,200/kid. That’s over $11k for your family for 6 nights. And that’s not including alcohol or tips, and as I said, it isn’t luxury.

Mohonk and Ocean Inn would both probably be about $12-14k for a week in August, but Mohonk would cover all meals and activities for that price (and food is good, certainly good enough). Neither would require airfare, but still over OP’s budget.

5-7k is not ultra luxury. Sorry.

I would go to California. It shouldn’t be too hot.

I’m planning a California trip for August. I don’t consider it an ultra luxury anything. We will probably spend at least double your budget.

We often travel in August after summer sports and before school starts. We have done Portland, Kennebunkport, Boston/Cape Cod, Rehoboth, Kiawah, Mohonk Mountain House, Nemacolin. I don’t consider any of these especially luxurious.

With your kids ages, I would do San Diego, stay at a nice hotel, go to Legoland and Seaworld.

OP, your budget is $5-7K for how many nights?

Her budget will get her one night at Aman.

Vail is nice in summer. The weather is great there are a lot of accommodations that suit groups or families and many good restaurants. Day hikes, biking, lots of kids activities including horseback riding. You will be at the top of your budget if you need a two bedroom and want lux.

Anonymous wrote:Mohonk Mountain House? It’s about a 5 hour drive and basically a very upscale summer camp for both adults and kids.

Her budget is 5-7K. 7 nights in a shared room there is $12,749

OP could afford Capon Springs in WV, double occupancy

That budget *Might* cover Nemacolin double occupancy if she found some sort of way to get a discount.

Go to Maine, in my experience August is fine, especially mid August.

I agree though always better to have AC.

Stowe Vermont has beautiful and high end resorts. Good restaurants and a cute downtown.

New Hampshire has a ton of likes, Winnepauskee is huge and beautiful. It’s in a town called Wolfboro, very high end resort place.

For luxury, I would look at c Lazy u dude ranch, or Amangari resort in Utah.

Budget would be like $5,000-$7,000. total not including flights.

this is not a luxury budget for a family of four...
