I would like is to go on a end of the summer vacation in August. My husband does not want to do outside of the US yet.
Family of four, kids are 6&8. I have no ideas except we do not like the heat. Any suggestions? Is Nantucket worth it? Is Hawaii hot in the summer? What else is a must do. We’ve been to a lot of places as a couple but my kids have only been to a handful of places. |

Most of Hawaii is warm most of the year.
Personally I'd go to Seattle, San Juan Islands, etc. |
| Pacific North West, Northern CA - might not be too hot. But global warming so you never really know. |
Yeah, same with New England. A lot of rentals in New England don't have AC, so if you pick a bad week, it isn't fun. |
| Mohonk Mountain House? It’s about a 5 hour drive and basically a very upscale summer camp for both adults and kids. |
| If you’re looking for luxury, there are some beautiful hotels in Jackson, Wyoming and you could see the Grand Tetons. Another option might be a dude ranch, but maybe that would be better when your kids are just a tad older. |
Whitefish, MT is really nice, too. Rent a boat to get out on Whitefish and/or Flathead Lakes. 45 minutes drive to Glacier National Park. Very nice place to be in August, but you'll need to book ASAP. |
OP here. We have thought of the dude ranch before. Thanks for the suggestion. |
| For really fancy do the four seasons in Jackson hole. |
| Dude Ranch. Your kids will want to go back year after year. |

Budget? (What is luxury to you?)
For luxury, I would look at c Lazy u dude ranch, or Amangari resort in Utah. |
| Also Nemacolin in PA or White Fish Lodge in Montana |
|
Not my bad not Amangiri in Utah, but Amangani in Jackson Hole WY.
https://www.aman.com/resorts/amangani Same company though. |

Ritz Carlton Dorado Beach in Puerto Rico. Has a private Waternill water park, lush gardens, private beaches, and outstanding tropical spa that’s like being in a dream, a fantastic private pool club called Encanto, terrific restaurants. Sublime. And in the US. A direct 3.5 hour flight from the east coast. And of course, if you didn’t already know, no passport required.
You’ll have a great time! We sure did! |

Don’t go to Hawaii if you don’t like hot. It is far and humid.
PR in August, same, too hot and bordering on hurricane season. |
