Why don’t more teens carry Narcan?

Are you always so myopic and self-centered? It's about other people, not you.

Honestly, I really don’t care if someone who is doing Coke or opioids dies of an OD. What a waste of a life. It’s not as if they will wake up and stop doing drugs. They will just continue, so I wouldn’t even waste my energy.

Let's let fat people who have heart attacks die as well.

Yes. How do you know the difference between someone who overdosed and someone who's ill?

Epi pens cost something like $400 for 2

+1

My kid has a phone and can dial 911, but as far as carrying Narcan... forget it.

I thought you had to be 18 to be an emt

I keep reading about people and sometimes teens who are OD’ing thanks to fentanyl laced coke or Oxy. I equipped my kid with Narcan just in case. It’s cheap and easy and you never know who he’ll be around or what will happen. I’d rather him be prepared. Why don’t more parents/the schools do this? Of course it would be better if no one was doing drugs but that’s not the reality and ultimately I want all of our kids to live.

Maybe OPs kid has substance abuse problems so that's why she feels like her kid must carry Narcan for her kid or the kid's acquaintances?

Not sure why she would like parents and kids to carry it around. Very strange!

There's some pretty easy training you can access. Narcan doesn't hurt someone who isn't on drugs. It just does nothing.

Nope, not alone. People have lost their minds lately.

This is one of the most bizarre posts I've seen on here in quite some time. No, neither my child or I carry narcan around with us.

Maybe OP is from Ohio or West Virginia???

Thanks Captain Obvious. Such insight.

I have wondered by Narcan is not a stand part of every first aid kit that you buy, that schools use. It's really should be available everywhere.

When my college age DC got a prescription for painkillers for a broken limb, the doctor also gave Narcan prescrition. At first I was offended, but then I realized it should be a stand practice with every pain killer prescription, because you never know where it will end up.

I can't think of where my kids might be that this would be an issue they personally would have to address. Mine's a lifeguard and they don't even have it at the pool.
