Prediction: Schools will have kids back in masks within a month

From the other thread (time to clock out trolls and perennially aggrieved parents):

Not an anti-vaxxer. My kids have had 3 shots. The risk is very low. Time to get rid of the masks indoors. Teachers against it are promoting a culture of fear that is unhealthy for our children.

Teacher here...trying to protect my unvaccinated 18-month-old and my unborn baby... I wouldn't say I'm trying to instill fear in students, but more the idea of selflessness and "sacrificing" to protect others. I say "sacrificing" because it really isn't a huge deal to the students, it seems to be much more of an issue with parents.

Good grief. I word of advice for anti-mask marjories: Sit on your typing hand and drink rose with the non dominant one for a couple of weeks if you hope you have any friends left

I am 'moving on' to accept that there is no going back to 2019: there is now a deadly respiratory virus that mutates quickly to evade immune protection. That virus is here to stay. Compared to pre-2020 levels, there will be more waves of infection, more illness, more deaths of vulnerable folks, and more threat of nagging illness (long COVID) once the acute phase passes. To stay ahead of the virus and prevent more suffering than is necessary, humans will have to adapt more rapidly than we have in the past and we will have to use all of the tools at our disposal to prevent illness (including masking when necessary). This virus moves fast and it is getting faster all the time. We must be equally fast.

What do you plan to do to "stay ahead of the virus" and being "equally fast"? By posting anti-masks propaganda every day on DCUM?

Sorry OP, I think I misread your post.

I’m guessing that it gives you a lot of anxiety that life is pretty much returning to normal.

I’m guessing troll factory just clocked in. Or are you such a friendless loser that you do these on the daily on your own time/dime?

So that’s a yes on the mental illness, eh

Here comes the “crazy”-spotter. I swear I know who it is because she once sat next to my husband and stared at him without blinking for the duration of a fundraising speech

Give it up losers. You’ll unmask when told to do so by much smarter and more responsible people.

Loves it! Always the same: start a thread, get destroyed, report posts that disagree, call people crazy/tell them to take meds etc etc, complain about censorship and go cry into a bowl of rose

Why do you do this to yourself 2-3x week, OPs?

Too bad the virus doesn’t work that way.

Seriously.
Move on.

By what metrics have you concluded the virus is endemic? Your own will to declare it such doesn’t count.

But you are not, are you? You’re moving exactly at the pace the rest of us dictate. At least in the top schools.

What are you even talking about? The entire country has moved on but for DMV, because of the superiority complex. Get vaccinated and boosted and do same for your kids. Then you can move on too.

While the transmission rates have dropped significantly from the height of the omicron wave, they're still high enough to ensure continued transmission. Attitudes such as this one explain why the rate of spread around the country is still as high as it is.

Exactly. Over 2700 Americans died of Covid yesterday.

So? 2,400 died of heart disease and another 1,700 of cancer. What's your point?

Reasons:

1. Second OMICRON wave will move quickly when BA.2 gets a foothold.
2. Schools are now major sources of transmission (different from earlier in the pandemic)
3. Most kids younger than 12 have only had two shots, if any
4. Masks optional policies will enable rapid spread, taking out classrooms and schools with wide spread sickness within a few weeks

I know you're cheering this on, OP, but I don't think you're right. We're still pushing to get masks OFF in the first place.

It will be soon, but not on your schedule.

People like this poster is one of the top reasons so many are fleeing from DC. It is quite literally infested with narcissists with Dunning-Kruger Effect.

Are these diseases communicable?

Heart disease and cancer are not highly communicable viruses transmitted by upper respiratory droplets and aerosols. Completely different scenarios.

Though we should all still be doing what we can to prevent those diseases from killing people too. And read up on the latest studies showing the connection between Covid infection and heart problems and previously healthy younger individuals. We are about to see a huge increase in heart disease in this country.
