| Not if you are leaving the hotel property. I’d do it to eat dinner there, where you can easily come up to check on them. |
My teen started babysitting at 12/13. My issue with this, and why I said no, is that it’s a hotel. You don’t know who has access to that room in terms of a key for example. |
| No. We have left our kids in a hotel room with an older cousin, but she was 15 and was an experienced babysitter. |
I started babysitting children in their own homes when I was 12. There is no way in hell my mom would have let me babysit a kid alone in a hotel room at that age. |
They babysat in your home with their parents nearby as well as neighbors. Very different. |
| Lone dissenter but I’d do this if the 13 year old is very responsible. |
This is the best plan, OP. |
| Depends on the children. For mine, absolutely not. |
| No way. I wouldn't even leave a 13 yr old alone in a hotel room by themselves. |
Neither would I. |
Really? I would totally do that. What are you worried would happen? |
| No way!! Are you crazy? Very unsafe. Selfish on top of that. |
| Omg people. Chill out. They’ll be fine. Get a bonanza from room service. Let them rent movies and play on the iPad. Odds are they will be in the exact same spots you left them as when you return. There’s no childnappers just waiting for kids to be left alone in a hotel room. Tel them to lock the door from the inside and don’t answer for anyone. If there’s a fire then go down the stairs. There’s not gonna be a fire. Go have fun. Let them grow a little. Make sure they know not to touch the sprinklers. |
I think it's bc the 13 year old would have to watch 2 kids. I'd do it if it was just one. |
