Just be warned about one thing: if you get an invite to a parent association meeting two weeks before the admission letters get sent out, that doesn’t mean you are in. It could mean that the school wants to waste an hour or more of your time with a bunch of parents talking about how absolutely wonderful the school is, and then not let you in.

That is crazy. Why would they do that?

I think to convince parents whose kids got into both that school and a Big 3 that it was a good alternative. Sour grapes, but I was truly embittered. It was like all the parents (supported by the school i.e. using the school zoom) telling me about a really great piece of candy, and how it was the best candy anywhere, handed out in a warm and welcoming candy community, and then the school said, sorry not for you.

Was this Maret last year? It was branded as the "parent association information session". I did not take it as any hint that my kid was in as it was a very generic email from admissions. As it turned out my kid did not get in either but was accepted to two Big3 high schools.

What grade? You’ll get in all of those?

Not in the grades that are full. K and JK will have openings; it expands. 6th will have some openings. All the grades, it depends.

DP but confirm that Maret did this last year. We assumed that it was just another obligatory step in the application process. I told DH that I didn’t want to do it and he told me that we needed to to continue showing interest. It would have been evident looking at the number of parents calling into the Zoom that it was way in excess of available spots.

Ouch. I presume you have an SEC political appointment? Hopefully it pays off for your family.

Every grade will have openings. These schools are never full!
