We're late to the party but my kids love Young Sheldon. It's in like season 5 but we just started season 1 a week ago.

For cartoons, The Last Airbender rec is good, as is Kipo and the Wonderbeasts. Mine still likes silly shows like Inspector Gadget (not so awesome for parents) or classics like The Muppet Show (old and new, I think the older is better for parents). Fraggle Rock is also fun.

For real people, my 10-12 year old nieces love The Babysitters Club and The Worst Witch. My sons sometimes watch along and pretend they don't like those, but I'm pretty sure they do. Same with Full House and Fuller House.

No need to rush into adult programming.

My DS watches Babysitters Club, Big Shot, the new Doogie Howser. All have mostly female main characters. He wouldn’t turn them on himself but he enjoys them when my DD watches them. I am glad; it’s important for boys to not always see themselves at the center of stories.

Agreed. Babysitters club has some great themes for discussion.

OP here. Thanks for all the suggestions!

One show we both loved was Diary of a Future President. Also, Babysitters Club. Also Loki, Wanda Vision, and that other superhero one on Disney — the guy with the bow & arrow.

Feels like it’s a tough balance between kid shows and more adult shows. In general, i feel that if he’s going to be exposed eventually (and obviously he will) to sexual innuendos and whatnot that I prefer to be there especially while he’s this young. But we’re not exactly going to watch I’m Sorry together!

Not sure if anyone mentioned Heartland. Great show - uplifting, good topics for discussion and has storylines at varying levels (mostly PG, some PG-13).

+1 The middle was really good for my family with 7, 9, 11 year olds to watch all together. Everyone enjoyed it, nothing inappropriate. So funny.

The voice
I can see your voice
Lego masters
The office (I have older kids too so my 11 year old has seen some things that others may find inappropriate)

My almost 12 year old migrated from loving things like Doogie remake and Hawkeye at the beginning of age 11 to now we’ve relented to do Stranger Things and His Dark Materials.
But still loves Good Place, iZombie, and Percy Jackson and Harry Potter movies.

Already mentioned:

Nailed It and Brain Games
Kipo, Avatar, and Korra

Also:

Hilda (Netflix cartoon, avoid the movie and look for the show)
Hawkeye on Disney (I’m not a Marvel fan but enjoyed too)
His Dark Materials on HBO
Maybe Shadow & Bone on HBO (show wasn’t as good, but it was watchable, note that one had a bit of sex)
