2 WFH parents or 1 SAHM/1WFH spouse

I work from home PT. DH is WAH until at least March, although that deadline keeps getting pushed back. (It was originally Labor Day 2020 — remember those days?)

I want my house back, at least a few days a week. That would strike a nice balance between countless interruptions of “hey, look at the [animal/weather/construction] outside” and the genuinely better connection DH has with the kids now that he’s always around. It might get him back on a better work schedule, because now he allows it to bleed into mornings/evenings, without actually carving out meaningful breaks. No lunches together. No walks together. Certainly no quickies together.

2 WFH parents with a nanny and it sucks. It’s hard to maintain clean boundaries when your kid can walk down the hall to your office and bang on the door and wants to be with you more than the nanny. It’s also really hard on our marriage because we just get so darn sick of each other. That said, I’m still not trading this to commute 12 hours a week in uncomfortable work clothes and deal with fish in the microwave, mindless banter in masks, and office politics. But I can’t wait until my youngest is old enough for preschool and it’s safe enough for me to go in to the office a few days a month to get away from my spouse.
