Will school close for Friday?

Is there a real chance of early dismissal?. If APS calls an early dismissal, what is the cutoff time for doing so?

No one is cheering it on. It's a longstanding (dating back a few years) silly game where people guess the day/time of a weather-related announcement. Most people seem to believe that school will be open as usual and many are hoping for that. I find your misreporting obnoxious.

Sure it was funny the first one or two times and now I think omg just go to work already JF

Yes! It may be “tradition” but the guy who keeps starting these threads really seems to revel in it. It’s easy to make it a fun “game” when you know you’ll get the paid day off. But for working parents, particularly those with young kids who are just burnt out and out of paid leave after these past 2 years, I find him grating.

Oh boo hoo. If you don't like the game, then don't pay attention to it. Everyone keeps calling for a return to "normal" -- a return to life before February 2020. This game existed before then so you should be happy for the "normalcy".

NP and I'd like my leave reserves to return to normal before silly teacher games.

CWG is too thirsty for clicks.

I would be really surprised. Even if CWG says ideally everyone should be home by 4, the vast majority of bus routes will be done by then. What are they going to do? Dismiss the elementary schools that start at 9:00 a.m. a half hour early?

And there you have it. Only afternoon activities canceled. Extended day still open though parents encouraged to pick kids up as early as possible.

Obviously a non issue today as we aren't dismissing early today but they can't dismiss just the 9am start schools early. It's an all or nothing thing because the buses run multiple routes.
