Bassinet recommendations

Personally, I would cheap out and get the cheapest bassinet possible and upgrade if you find you need it. You use it maximum 5-6 months.

What's so great about the snoo?

We had the Snuzpod for our first and will be using it again for our second this summer. I think it's much more attractive than the Halo and others. It has storage underneath plus a pocket attachment you can get. The sides zip down so it can be used like an arms reach co-sleeper, and it lifts off the stand so can be easily transferred from room to room if you want. I know tons of people in the UK use them, and I'm always surprised they're not more popular here/more widely available. When we got ours it was also sold on Amazon, but it looks like that's not the case anymore.

So you haven't had an infant without the snoo yet? I rocked two all night long. The snoo means I get to sleep instead.

PP- I had two babies who didn't sleep any better in the snoo than out of it, and we're delayed in rolling because they were strapped in.

Very interesting observation. Pediatricians should warn parents about this.

About one person’s anecdotal observation that could have just been her kid’s temperament? No I think that would be silly. I’ll offer anecdotal evidence, my baby and 3 close friends were all born around the same time. 3 of the 4 of us used Snoos and our babies rolled, crawled, and walked on the early end of average. The one who didn’t even swaddle? You guessed it, hit those milestones on the later side!

Baby’s temperament and floor time matter most.

I'm the person you first replied to. You just proved my point. The snoo didn't work for us, maybe it works for others. You really seem hellbent on getting into arguments huh.

^^and I'll add...my kids were on the floor a lot. The both started rolling the week after I got them out of it. I have friends who had the same experience. I'm glad you liked it but it's not universal. Why are you so obsessed with defending a product?

That was my first response on the thread. I don’t really care that much who uses the Snoo and who doesn’t. I actually didn’t even comment on whether it worked for mine or my friends kids from a sleep perspective. But one person’s experience does not warrant pediatricians warning parents, so I was providing a counter example to the person who posted that for anyone reading the thread considering a Snoo. Sorry it didn’t work well for your kids!

OP, that crate and barrel doesn't look safe. It should have mesh sides and the bottom shouldn't be so plush. I did not get a snoo but I really liked having a bassinet that rocked. We had the fisher price soothing motions bassinet. It worked well for us.

Just FYI you are supposed to stop using it at 5 months, 20lbs, or when a baby starts to roll, which normally happens well before that. I have a few friends who only got a couple of weeks use out of it for that reason. Rolling is a really early milestone for discontinuing use and seems unique to the halo, probably due to its design.

We used ours until 6 months. No issues.

Snuzpod. I love it. It looks really nice and is made of wood- no plastic. I love that it is right at the height of my bed and I can just roll over and pick baby up and dont have to get out of bed in the night. I had the Halo with my last baby, which was fine. But the snuzpod just looks nicer.
