would you drive a luxury car that marks you as an outsider?

I would not trade in a car I was otherwise not interested in trading in just cause I was moving. Like everyone has said you don't need a dealer for service so that doesn't really matter. I used to take my Lexus to my local garage because it was way more convenient than any of the many nearby dealerships.

Wtf? There is no place where an older Lexus stands out but a new Toyota does not.

Hard to believe there is anywhere where a 9 year old Lexus would stand out. Maybe if you are moving to rural Michigan and everyone drives Fords out of loyalty to the US auto industry, but even that's changed with the cross ownership of so many car brands. At one point Ford owned Volvo and even Ford execs drove Volvos.

We just bought a 2018 Audi A3 red convertible. 28k miles. Wife’s dream car. She saved from her side hustle business for the past 5 years. Paid all cash.

Our other two cars are 2016 Kia Sorentos (bought new). My daughter drives a 2015 Toyota RAV4 (bought used). All cars paid off.

For the Audi, it’s like a Rolls Royce for us. Our first luxury car.

Not sure why it matters, OP. Who cares what kind of car you drive? Drive whatever you like.

This is not a thing in 2022. Not even in Michigan.

Enjoy! Audi was also our first luxury car.
