| All in MoCo: Montgomery College has virtual and in-person classes for teens. Also, the various arts centers have classes for teens, either as camps or the teens are eligible for the regular ongoing classes. A couple of the after school providers run travel camps where they take daily field trips (KidsCo, KAH), and Camp Sonshine has a teen camp as well. Also waiting to see what the summer school offerings will be. |
| A sport and running around the neighborhood with buddies, including lots of time at the pool. |

Summer school, swim team, 1-2 speciality camps.
Yours can babysit, volunteer.. lots of things. |

It's hard at that age when both parents work because they can't get themselves to and from work (unless you're in DC or an area with good bus service).
But in the 'burbs of VA where I live, most teens don't work during the summer if both parents work for this very reason. I think she can take lifeguard in training classes at 14 but can't become certified until 15. However, most of the pools in my aren't won't hire under 16 for lifeguard positions. My 14 year old is doing a CIT program at a sleepaway camp. It's 4 weeks long, not the whole summer. They can be a CIT until age 18 when they're eligible to become a full camp counselor. After that she's taking a 2 week dance camp and then she'll spend the rest of the summer bumming around. |
| Taking riding lessons from his cousin who is a very accomplished equestrian and teaches year round. Going to tournaments in his hobby - lots of travel…. And car shows, lots of car shows/meetups/auctions. |
| We will go on vacation for a week and he will spend a week visiting each side of our families in other states. That’s a good part of June and July. August will be a lot of practices for the freshman football team (hopefully). I think there may be some preseason workouts and I heard practices are twice per day for part of August. Other than that, a lot of time online and on his cell phone. |

Week in San Antonio with grandparents
Skeet practice two days a week Week and a half trip to Alaska Two weeks of half day band camp Might try for a week with other grandparents in Illinois, if schedules work out And he'll probably play videos games for 12 hours a day on the days he's not doing something else. |
| I'm not sure about the timing for applications, but my older kid did several stints as a CIT and junior counselor at the Audubon Naturalist Society in North Chevy Chase. |
| Hopefully attending a camp or enrichment activity funded by https://www.usaeop.com/. Also hoping that the academy where DS fence's is hosting a summer camp or similar. |
| UMBC Chemical Engineering summer program and one on Astrophysics at Carnegie Mellon. Besides that, vacations and swimming in the Patapsco River at our cabin there. I love summers. |
Could you share the name of the Astrophysics program at CMU? My DC is interested and looking for a related program in Summer. Thanks! |
| Playing video games all day. |

Unless she is good about making plans with friends and generally keeping herself entertained, I would suggest finding another few weeks of camp centered around something she likes, such as a sport, a hobby, an interest (film, photography, drawing, coding, games, etc…) (versus a “day camp”).
She doesn’t need to be in camps all summer, but a few weeks will break it up. Does she have any cousins or friends that could come stay with you or she stay with them for a week or so here? My 14 year old is doing a combination of camps, family vacation, time with his grandparents, and a few weeks at home with nothing planned. Like your daughter, he has largely aged out of camps, but understands a few weeks will gone him something to do and some structure. |
