Wife Keeps Pushing Me To Go Vegan

She’s being controlling. I can’t imagine pressuring my DH to adopt my diet.

Who cooks the meat for dinner?

Ha, I was your wife several years ago. When you first get into Veganism, you're super enthusiastic and want to convert everyone. Months later, your hair is falling out, you're exhausted all the time, and you secretly and shamefully wolf down fast food cheeseburgers when you're alone in your car.

There's a TON of indoctrination in Veganism, they really push you to the point of thinking that your health will be destroyed, you'll die an early death, and you'll kill the planet if you don't adopt the diet. It's like a cult.

Give it some time and it'll blow over. Just be consistent.

Not sure how you're handling dinners now, but I do think it's sad when couples eat separate meals. So maybe to be supportive, pick up a cookbook and cook some vegan meals 3-4 times a week, and just add in a side of meat for you. I really like the book "Power Plates", I still use it even though I'm not vegan anymore.

OP here. No. The thing is we always ate very healthy and a mostly plant focused diet. I don’t really cut anything out but we mainly ate lean protein, veggies, fruits, complex carbs, and healthy fats.

A typical day of eating. I’m 6’1”, 190lbs.

Breakfast: 3 pastured raised eggs fried or scrambled in 1-2tbsp Kerrygold butter, two pieces whole grain toast, and a side of fruit or a veggie egg scramble with a side of fruit, or oatmeal with fruit and nuts.

Snack: Yogurt with granola, hard boiled eggs, nuts, protein shake, smoothie, etc.

Lunch: Leftover or a large salad with tons of vegetables, protein from meat or beans, and avocado. Sometimes a side sandwich or a side of crackers and hummus if I’m super hungry.

Snack: Same as other snacks. I try to mix things up throughout the day.

Dinner: Lean protein, vegetables, and a salad or carb.

We only order out maybe once a week and will make pancakes for breakfast over the weekend. I don’t eat much red meat and we don’t drink expect for the occasional glass of red wine or beer 1-2 times a month.

Too much snacking. In general broad strokes, most vegans are healthy and most vegetarians are really fat. Pick your team.

This isn’t too much snacking, and OP is neither vegan nor vegetarian. Can you read?!

Doesn't matter. Not his wife's choice.

Vegans are insufferable. Just eat what you want to and STFU.

More likely she is the one eating a poor diet snd is nutrient deficient

If you look at the centenarians of the world, they still eat a little meat even though they have a plant-centered diet.

It’s settled. You are even more annoying than your vegan wife

Yep. It was the “pastured raised eggs fried in Kerrygold butter” that did it for me.

No one wants this much detail about your diet, dude. You and your wife are a good fit.

You must be new to DCUM if you think people don’t want to know exactly what OP eats. Sounds like OP is eating a healthy diet. Pasture-raised eggs cooked in healthy fats like grassfed butter is fine. Check out Bobby Parrish (FlavCity) on Youtube.

+1. She is struggling to stay vegan in a nonvegan society.

Food is one of the pleasures of living. Your wife is being unreasonable.

Who does the cooking? She shouldn’t feel obliged to cook something separate for you and neither should you for her…

Most plant based meats are unhealthy. It’s basically a bunch of oils and salt.

They are heavily processed and not healthy.

Keep doing what you are doing. More Americans should be eating this way.
