Sorry. This is a racist country against Asian-American males. My kid has been dinged for the same for CS. In some ways, it has stripped the belief of "American equality" from the eyes of my children. They now realize what was the bamboo ceiling their parents had to face. Thankfully, our children are not starting with nothing here, like we did.
They have our financial support behind them. Hopefully, they will keep this lesson of racism close to their heart once they are in their careers.

DC accepted CS but didn't see honors college, 1550 sat and several ECs while UMD accepted honors for CS. Is there separate application to get into honors at Purdue?

My kid got into Purdue for engineering and honors college, but didn't get honors at UMD (got offered Scholar's instead). It's all kind of a crapshoot.

It is a crapshoot. Many well qualified students and limited space. BUT so many good - and even great - colleges and universities in our country. So long as you (and your DCs) don't get tripped up with the race for rankings and prestige. Our DCs are so much more than their SAT score or GPAs. Remind them there is not a lot of rhyme or reason to this whole process.

DS was admitted EA but not into the honors college. Much lower stats than yours, though.

DS was admitted EA but not into the honors college. Much lower stats than yours, though.

DD admitted to Purdue CS but not honors college. FCPS 1500+ SAT and 4.4+, EC. UMD letter states CS Honors but not Purdue.

I see this is a thread from last year, but I was wondering if any of the posters whose kid was deferred last year, ended up getting in?
My kid was deferred for engineering, same GPA/ACT as the OP. Strong ECs

YES my son was admitted into CS after being deferred. It happens somewhat frequently. Last year the CS program opened 200 slots for deferred kids.
