Leading isn't easy, especially in times of crisis. But she held strong in the face of parents who ignored science, numbers and the well being of our children.

School remained open, continues to be open, and our children are learning in person. Well done Dr. McKnight. Count me in the camp of hoping she gets the job full time.

And for when this debate inevitably happens again (whether it be the spring, fall or winter)...this is now the 2nd time the county has been right to keep schools open (see Fall 2021 "Delta" wave). Schools stay open, debate is over.

Also, a big kudos to the principals in MoCo who lead each of their respective schools through the wave as well. Deserve as much credit as Dr. McKnight.

+ 1 MILLION!! Yeah for following science and steadfast resolve! So happy she didn’t cave to anxiety and fear.

We have reached the peak and pushed through it. Sure it was bumpy and ugly but this is what “we are in this together” looks like.
Brava McKnight!

Oh boy. Let’s talk next week about the peak still trending upwards

Ha! Classic MoCo parent that for some reason hopes the pandemic continues. Cases peaked. Simple math. Next week will be lower. 100% guaranteed.

For sure. Smith did not even try one bit to look out for our kids. At least Dr. McKnight has made the effort.

The ship has sailed.

I didn’t realize that. Thanks for the update.

Teachers and principals are suffering from central office incompetence just like parents. Only second to the kids themselves, naturally.

A part of MCPS who wants to have a virtual meeting for themselves due to covid, but forced teachers and kids to get covid?

I mean the same part which sent a message that in two weeks MCPS will distribute the mask, two weeks, lol. Till then let everyone gets covid.

If that part was working hard then masks would have been ready to go as soon as school opened.

BOE and Central office are simply incompetent. Don't confuse them with teachers/staff.

You are a perfect idiot or probably from the central office.

What does the exact peak already passing has to do with school being safe? The peak could be 10 days away or 10 days behind, but if covid is circulating at a high rate, even if the decline rate is from an extreme peak, it's not safe.

Peak timing tells us if it's getting or worse. it does not tell us if a school is a safe place for all kids.

Earlier one school had 20 cases reported in one day. Today has only 18, hurray.......... looks problem is solved and everything is safe.

math much? here is a visual - it is DC but still seems like a good proxy for the area. Cases per 100,000 down by 50% from peak.

You don't need to hold your nose roundabout way. We have direct source. No need to cite tweets or DC or canada.

Primary Indicator of County

The last 30 days trend for 7 days moving average - Near peak in flat line - High transmission

Test positivity rate - 25% and the moving average is at peak - High transmission

Covid related hospital bed utilization - still growing and far from peak

https://www.montgomerycountymd.gov/covid19/data/#dashboard-primary-indicators

Always pick 7 days moving average to avoid data noise in reporting.

Wow, the situation is really bad with such a high transmission rate. Hope we see a drop in hospitalization.

+2. Was it perfect? No, far from it. But if DCUM is a taste of the hysteria she had to deal with, than kudos to her for standing firm.

God I can only imagine. So many hysterical people. I think I’ll have my kids make her a card this weekend. I encourage others to do the same.

I feel so happy. We won guys! The momentum behind virtual is evaporating. pG is going back. Dc and Virginia are holding steady. Cases peaking/declining in region. Yes! I can’t believe people are still circulating that dumb petition. Give it up!

Oh, you are posting real data from a county site. You need to be educated to use made-up data and be a scientist to work in the central office.

Have some sense and try to see why so many families are suffering and upset. I have two kids attending in person, but it does not hurt to understand others' points of view. School is not for you, school is not for me. School is for everyone.
