LOL. No they "said" they did something to ventilation. They didn't actually improve anything. You fell for the pr again. |
Yeah. Very different conditions in the different buildings. In many places, teachers are not happy with the results, and ther's no test data available for review of effectiveness. Plenty of times facilities has pulled the wool over folks' eyes. The BOE seems not to mind that. |
So the only folks that need it, then, are those that signed up for VA when Delta was still being evaluated and 5 months before Omicron changed the landscape or those who test positive or those with documented exposure without vaccination or those with documented exposure who are vaxxed but have symptoms? It's like you can't put yourself in aanyone else's shpes to see that others might have different conditions like vulnerabilities in the household that would lead to different needs for protection against a backdrop of a different threat. Everyone's got it just like you, so they shouldn't complain? Sheesh. |
DP.. delta was a lot more lethal than omicron. What did the vulnerable people do during the delta wave when all schools were in person except the VA? |
And lunch being different everywhere without being addressed well is another failure. |
Also the virus will continue to mutate so vulnerable people will need a long term plan…maybe lobby MCPS do the virtual academy becomes permanent? |
Um, not getting exposed because of low relative numbers of infected and the ability to be distanced & outside during lunch -- the one unmasked time. Elementaries aren't doing that in the cold weather. |
This has to be McKnight herself. That woman is a failure - I think that's the case whether you want schools in person or virtual She did a terrible job with safety protocols, can't communicate, shows no empathy, can't answer a question, seems incapable of taking responsibility for anything and is a total nightmare. When someone says they love her (hard to find those people), you know it has to be her or a close contact who isn't really aware of what's been going on. |
She is doing what she is directed to do. |
LOL Who is directing her? If she can't do the job then she needs to go. She's the highest paid person. It's on her. |
we left mcps to opt for a school that actually had a mitigation plan in place. not every family can do that so mcps needs to make things safer |
Delta was far more serious than Omicron so I don't really see your point. Your deciding everything was ok and it was safe to send your kids to school was on you, not anyone else. If your family is in a vulnerable situation, you would have chosen virtual all along. Your failure to plan, is not a crisis for MCPS. You need ot keep your kids home. |
Very few schools have good mitigation plans. We looked/applied to several privates, got it a few last minute, but none really had great plans when you talked to them beyond testing and masking. MCPS has been clear what they will and will not do. Too many parents screamed last year and MCPS listened this year. They are to blame. Parents will not even opt in for testing. MCPS offered virtual to families who were concerned/wanted it. If it was safe during delta, it is safer during omicron. |
Covid vaxx was approved for ES kids after school year started. This, coupled with delta, meant that kids were more likely to suffer from harsher covid symptoms, irrespective of being outside, because I guarantee you, that kids were not distancing outside while eating. Have you seen kids eat and talk? I have.. I volunteered in my kids' ES during lunch. They talk a lot, and loudly, during lunch. So, even before the omicron surge, this would've been an issue. Omicron is more contagious, yes, but it's also much more mild than delta, especially if vaxxed. Again, at some point, your kid will get exposed to covid; covid is here to stay. If your goal is to avoid infection forever, that's not going to happen. |
Apparently everyone is to blame except the people who are in charge and paid quite handsomely to boot. Pretty laughable. McKnight has personally committed to keeping schools open and yet she has proven incompetent at doing so. That’s all anyone needs to know. Dr. McKnight has gotta go. |
