I'm guessing OP is looking for omega 3 sources.

OP maybe try rainbow trout.

I get it, but other fish and other foods have omega 3. No need to torture her kid.

Flax has Omega 3 as well. I put it in smoothies and in yogurt and oatmeal. Take a break from salmon.

Flax doesn’t have the kind of omegas that are associated with the health benefits of salmon.

Not OP and agree you shouldn’t force kids to eat something they’re rejecting, just saying. Flax is not truly a substitute.

So give them cod liver oil. No kid should be forced to eat the same fish every week if they dont like it.

Mine loves it with teriyaki sauce.

He's gone off a bunch of things he used to love, though (now aged 6,5), e.g. broccoli. We still serve it but don't force it.

If he has to eat salmon, maybe try different forms. I'm also not a fan of cooked salmon, but love sushi/sashimi and lox.

My kids love the marinated salmon they sell at Costco in the frozen section.

Maple mustard glaze is good. And can give him extra for dipping.

One of the many mango recipes might also work for you.

My kids like salmon nuggets (I cut the salmon into some chunks, bread it in flour, egg, and bread crumbs and pan fry). They will only eat farmed Atlantic salmon because it is milder and softer.

I love salmon and eat it 2-3 times a week. However, I would never force my child to eat it if they don't like a food. There are other proteins that you can serve. I get it about the Omega 3 but I would not get into an all-out-war with my kid about salmon.

This is similar to how we make the salmon cakes. We start with fresh (not canned) salmon.

The farmed Salmon has so many chemicals I would worry about eating it weekly.

I marinate it in pesto then cook under the broiler. We have it with rice which is my kids fav carb…. And veggies.

OP didn’t say she was starting a war, she said she’s looking for other ways/ideas to present the food.

Thank you all for the recipes and advice!

It is wild salmon that we buy. Once every month or two we buy smoked salmon - the slimy thin kind - and my kindergartener goes nuts for that. I’d buy smoked salmon more if it was in my budget and if smoked things were healthier (good friend died of stomach cancer years ago).

I’m going to try the orange marmalade next.

You all may be right; maybe we need a break from salmon. DS loves mussels so maybe I’ll fix him those when the rest of us have salmon.

Thanks, everyone!
