Where would you move within DMV for a little political diversity?

I live in Anne Arundel and for the most part it is a very "purple" county. The previous county exec was an R and the current is a D. Of course there will be certain pockets that lean D or R but for the most part it is pretty mixed.

OP, it reads to me that you want to talk politics with your neighbors, but don’t like when people make it personal? That can be hard the closer you get to DC because so many people work in the political/government arena and came to dc because of their interest in politics.

I’d say try to seek out people who are locals and didn’t move here to be the next Josh Lyman. There are plenty of people out there who don’t talk politics much at all and instead focus on what we like about each other and what we do have in common

Fauquier County, VA. Skews Republican but not a single person we have met here is jumping into debating politics with the neighborhoods. It has been a breath for fresh air that politics is not a litmus test for friendship.

Thank you for summing this up, PP. Your post is exactly what we want to get away from. We vote for whatever reasons we have and don't feel obligated justifying those reasons, even to each other (although most of the times we do, but in a healthy respectful way) OP

I posted earlier about non political vibe in Burke. But yes these types of very extreme issues you would be a big outlier on if you voice support vocally for such terrible things. So if you are a normal R you likely will be fine almost anywhere. If you are an ardent MAGA fan then yes you’ll find almost everywhere “divisive” since most sane people do not agree with that stuff.

I stay away from the crazy, hypocritical liberals in this area and from the super conservative nutsos from my hometown.

Find people who will talk to you about politics without trying to convince you that you are wrong. There are people like that. Agree they are tough to find though.
