They aren’t basing it on what FCPS is doing. They are basing it on the fact that they don’t have enough staff to open, which is due to FCPS being closed.


This is only part of it. Teachers do not just live in Fairfax. They also live in Alexandria, Prince William, Manassas, even Fredericksburg. All of those districts are closed today. In any other year, APS schools could have managed, but you have these closures on top of (a) covid outages and (b) no subs in Arlington available to staff in their place. Why didn’t they also say this is bc of COVID cases with teachers? There are more teacher out now due to a positive case or being a close contact than ever.
