Not much of that is Covid cases, though. Only something like 20% of beds are Covid patients, and ICUs are at about 70%. A lot of it is people going to the emergency room to get a Covid test, even though their symptoms aren’t acute enough to need emergency care. Hospitals are begging people to get tested elsewhere, and unless you have an actual emergency, see your regular doctor instead.

From news station:

“Covid and staffing shortages have really decimated local fire departments. 10% of the entire Montgomery county department is out of work this morning. In DC, 18% are either sick with Covid or in quarantine.”

To clarify: ICUs are at 70% total capacity, including all patients, Covid and otherwise. 20% of occupied beds overall are Covid patients. So there are still beds, but staffing is tight and and ERs are stretched. Individual hospitals are having intake issues.

Why do we need new daily threads on the same thing? MCCPTA doesn't respond to emails so its a bit funny they are demanding a response from someone else who is on scheduled leave.

There was supposed to be test to stay by now- my guess is they still don't have enough tests or staff to administer. But it would only apply to unvaccinated students anyway.

Test to Stay will never be practical with school-administered tests. New York’s plan of sending rapid tests home after contacts is really the only feasibile option.

She’s done, right? I think she’s burned bridges with everyone at this point.
I think McKnight is done. Gone. Zip. She had her chance. All she had to do was to pull her head up and look around.

Tbf she’s been bullied by the psychotic parents here. The parents in this county are truly something else and I don’t mean this in a good way. Will be happy when my gov contract in DC is done because….wow.

The psychotic parents had their sway last year when we mostly stayed closed. They’re no longer on national strategy, though.

Hilarious that you think that was a dig. The majority of other school systems are doing much better than we are, but keep telling yourself you’re right.
